Our environment and our Earth is our own responsibility. The responsibility of keeping the place we live in clean, tidy, and beautiful is our own. However, many troublemakers do not follow this and end up littering the area. This leads to pollution, which we cannot avoid, because cleanliness is not just one or two people’s responsibility—it is everyone’s duty.
Even though people are aware of this, many still ignore it, which results in increasing pollution and unclean surroundings. I believe that cleanliness should not be restricted to a specific day or competition; rather, it is a responsibility that everyone must recognize and fulfill in their daily lives.
In my city, there are some organizations that prioritize such activities. Whenever I get a chance to help these organizations, I participate without hesitation. If my contribution can bring even a little cleanliness, I am more than happy to step forward. Some organizations in our city also involve schoolchildren in these activities, guiding them on how to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. All of this is done voluntarily.
On last month and last Sunday, we worked for almost four hours with the Interact organization in Kolhapur to clean the riverfront of Panchganga river and Rankala lake area . Many people come to this area for morning walks, and a lot of plastic waste and garbage had accumulated there. We collected all the waste and, with the help of the municipal corporation, removed it, making the area clean for the public.
In reality, this is everyone’s responsibility because water pollution is a serious issue. The water we drink should be clean, and therefore, everyone must recognize the urgency of avoiding such unclean practices. People should pledge not to dump garbage or plastic into the water.
As a local guide, I take great pride in being a small part of this cleanliness drive. I believe that while managing our household responsibilities, we should also extend a helping hand to the people in our community.
Additionally, during the monsoon season, when there are flood situations, I have always stepped forward to help. Whether it is providing clothes or food items, I have made sure that they reach the flood-affected people. I will continue to offer such help in the future as well.
