I was searching for local business and I saw many of business profile missing with phone number on Google Maps. so i tried to visit some of the places and ask them to add the phone number in profile,so i added their number and it is showing under review and its been long time its not updated. I also tried to connect with Google My Business team but they are not helping me.

Your anguish is understandable.
Nevertheless, there had been many reports of fake phone numbers getting included in many business profiles.
I learn from past communications on the same topic that entry or edit of phone numbers is not yet available in India.
That’s to prevent unsuspecting customers from getting cheated by accessing the fake phone numbers.
Nevertheless, business owners can include the phone number through GMB.
If that’s not possible even thorough “GMB”, you have to take up the issue in that forum only. Here is a link to that.

Hi @chetan_mange99 the GMB team will not help you because you are not a business. The businesses themselves need to visit https://business.google.com and claim their Maps entry and manage it. You cannot do this for them as a Local Guide.
Google verifies edits both with algorithms, by people and even by Local Guides using Check The Facts. It can take quite a long time for an edit to be approved. You need to be patient. Thanks for helping your community.

This means that if someone else has a similar doubt, the information can be found easier. In addition to what he and @C_T said, I just want to recommend you when suggesting such edit, it might help, adding some kind of ‘‘prove’’ (for example a photo of a business card, where the number appears).

I am new to this forum and hence please do excuse me if this is a silly question. I have been trying to add phone numbers to different businesses and the review just keeps getting denied. Has anyone else faced this issue too.
This is a common problem in India. Google uses phone numbers to let business owners gain control over their own listings. So if it is easy to change a phone number it is automatically also easy for spammers to high jack and abuse the listings. Hence Google made it almost impossible to add and change phone numbers.
The problem is probably two-fold:
- Lots of spam attacks
- Lack of public phone databases
In my experience, if a phone number can be looked up in a public database and the name and address of the store are the same as on the Maps listing, then it will be approved immediately.
Also, you need to have a good track record as a Local Guide, so Google can trust your edits. If you repeatedly make bad edits your trust score goes down. So I recommend checking if the phone number is registered to the shop in a public database before even trying to add it.
