Why is there no option to add or edit a Village Name on Google Maps?

Namaste Everyone,

I want to know why users don’t get a direct option to add or edit a Village Name (administrative boundary) in Google Maps like we do for shops or landmarks.

What is the official or correct process to get an unmapped village name added or corrected on Google Maps? Please guide.

Thanks

Dear @ANUPAMSINGH ,

go through this How can I add or correct a village boundary on Google Maps? - #2 by Manishhh , this will answer your query

Hi @ANUPAMSINGH

The short answer is that editing political borders incorrectly could create a huge mess. That is why we can’t.

Thanks sir,

Hi @ANUPAMSINGH
I wrote a post to respond to this (and many others) question like yours

But I like how @MortenCopenhagen simplified it:

Personally, I wouldn’t want to find myself in a situation where anyone could change the name of the village I live in and its boundaries. But then we’d be back to square one: how would Google Maps verify our change? Based on trust or on an official cartography?
The answer, I hope, it’s obviously the last one
