“Finding myself a local guide”
The most interesting thing I had to do as a local guide was to make a journey and exploration on a very small island in Indonesia, near Bali. It should be noted that my nationality is Argentina, in South America, so Southeast Asia is practically on the other side of the world
The island in question is one of the three Gili islands, better known as Gili Air.
The question is: why did you want to go there?
It is known that the other two Gili islands, did not fit my search, since one is for partying wild and very young people; the other island is special for honeymoon couples.
So Gili Air, I knew it was a very quiet island, but with a good vibe and good social life, with a lot of diving, live music bands at dusk while you can dine in restaurants facing the sea, it really is a magical place.
The question is that many people recommended me to go to a restaurant that had 5 stars in Local Guide.
So the first thing I did was search for it, and I confess that it cost me a lot to access it.
Once I found it, it really didn’t seem like the experience could be a good one, but it struck me that it has such a good recommendation.
Two days passed and thinking about it, I said to myself: “I have to trust local guide”, which is created by people like me, who is traveling and knowing and looking for experiences, unlike an advertising system that can be everything a farce, since it can be paid advertising.
So I went back to this restaurant. and its own owner took care of me. an extremely interesting and funny character.
At that time I was giving a private class on how to prepare those dishes, to a Swedish girl, who showed that she was super happy.
The place is very simple, equipped with the basic but very local, for the island where I was. Everything practically made with bamboo cane and banana leaves, from the tables, chairs, to the plates and other utensils.
We order our food, while listening to very good music on an incredible day.
The food and its spectacular presentation, local food, the richest and tastiest of the entire trip. Everything made the experience incredible, just as I had read in the local guide.
At that point, I officially became an active member of the local guide.
Make a review of the place and my experience there, take better photos and make more detailed descriptions.
It should be noted that although I am 43 years old, I have a very adventurous and young spirit, so I loved that idea of contributing to the community.
My Review received response from thousands of people, and I understood the purpose of local guide.
Now waiting for my next trip to continue with this activity!
