What I like sharing most on Google Maps

Have you ever been in the situation, where you needed to visit a friend in his community and found out that you lost your route due to fact that you couldn’t locate the landmark he texted you? This has happened to me on 3 occasions and on the third occasion, I had to return home. There are many out there who go through this experience everyday, some even end up getting into trouble or even end up in the wrong places due to a direction a friend texted them.

I love sharing landmarks and adding missing places on Google Map, it’s something I find worth doing cos nothing can be better than helping someone find his way around a place with just a click. In my part of the world, most places that are known by most local people are mostly missing online. This makes giving directions quite interesting and difficult. A landmarks in Ghana is any popular place that everybody in the locality knows. I know that might sound interesting but yes that is our local definition of a landmark. For instance in a community like “Adjringano”, located in the city of Accra, “Islamic University Junction” is a landmark. Yes the junction is seen as a landmark by the people in that community and as such most people use that junction in giving directions.

This makes me want to do more to help improve Google Map, since everyone in my community can benefit from it.
