Vist to prachin konkan (Ancient konkan)

on my trip to Ratnagairi, visited this open museum prachin konkan ( Ancient konkan)

Made on the mountain like area this is an amazing place to know the story how Konkan was formed and the lifestyle of the people in earlier times.

Konkan is located on the western coastline of India hence the primary occupation and main food of people here is sea food and rice.

A guide form the museum takes us through this open museum and tells us the stories and information each mannequin and statue depicts

This one was depicting how ancient people in konkan used to extract oil from coconuts.

Warli painting was done by the tribes to depict different stories. This one is about hunting the animals.

It was an amazing place to know so much about konkan and how the people used to live.

This looks amazing @FalguniP … I think it is a good place for kids to hangout and gain some knowledge.

Museums are really wonderful places - showcasing the culture of earlier times and taking us back to that era.

Nice information on a Museum having an unusual notion @FalguniP

How much time does it take to complete the tour?

@C_T it took us approximately 2-3 hours to walk till the top take a halt for 10-15mins and return back.

We need to walk and halt at different spots where the guide explains and tells us the details.

So it’s a bit time consuming

@Shrut19 This place is an open museum located in Ganpatipule about 1-2kms from the Ganpati mandir, it is located beside the amusement park Magic Garden. Entry Fees ₹40 (where a guide is and provided, she will explain about each and everything there) and seperate charges of ₹20 for photography.

This museum tells story of Kokan Region from the time it was came into existence and how the people usedo live there in the beginning (hunting, craftsman, local people, the culture, food etc)

Different manquine are kept to show the villagers and animals.

there is also some information about the medicial and astrological use of plants and tress.

This place is quite big and takes time to reach the top most point as it is located in a mountain like area, there is too much walking. (Not recommended for elderly people, as it is very tiring)

@FalguniP @Shrut19 Thanks for tagging and giving me opportunity to share my thoughts here. Prachin kokan is theme park in Ganapati pule village where they have created ancient kokani village. It shows kokan’s rich culture and heritage and it’s way of life. Good place to visit for those who are from urban parts and interested in ancient village culture.
