As shared earlier, with the GG V2 Series theme centered on “Back to Basics,” we are thrilled to announce Episode 6 of the Ghumakkad Gossip Meet-up Series: “ Mapping Accessibility – A Closer Look.” :repeat_button::sparkles:

This session invites us to return to the very foundation of what it means to be a Local Guide; revisiting the core values and principles that shape the purpose of our contributions. It offers a moment to pause, reflect, and realign with the true impact of our work, reminding us that mapping is not just about places, but about people and their ability to access those places with dignity and independence.

Accessibility, at its heart, is about enabling individuals to navigate and use spaces safely, comfortably, and independently, regardless of physical mobility, visual or hearing impairments, or cognitive challenges. By understanding and identifying accessibility features; such as step-free access, ramps, clear signage, tactile paths, and inclusive facilities; we help create a more informed and inclusive world for everyone.

Equally important are the tools and platforms we use to map and share this information. They empower us to highlight accessibility details accurately and consistently, ensuring that our contributions serve real-world needs. Whether you are a seasoned Local Guide or just beginning your journey, revisiting and strengthening your understanding of these resources allows you to grow with confidence, remain engaged, and contribute with greater purpose.

Through mindful mapping and thoughtful contributions, we can collectively enhance accessibility awareness and make a meaningful difference; one place, one detail, and one contribution at a time within the global Local Guides community.

This meet-up is also a part of the Global Wave initiative: Join the Global Wave: Celebrate 11 Years of Local Guides & 10 Years of Connect!

Let’s realign, relearn, and rediscover the essentials, because strong foundations lead to impactful journeys.

Through Anshuk’s insights, participants will gain clarity on making their contributions more purposeful, aligned with real-world needs, and rooted in empathy and awareness.
