View from a Footover Bridge: Pune-Bengaluru Expressway

If you walk for travel or use a pedal bicycle instead of a car or motorbike, several amazing views are awaiting to be explored and enjoyment on the way.

Home or abroad, I almost always walk when exploring a new place.

One such place is the footover bridge along the Sus Road.

It crosses the Pune-Bengaluru Expressway, not very far from my home.

:oncoming_automobile: From above, the stream of headlights feels like a river of stars flowing endlessly.

:fire_engine: I often stop on this bridge midway.
To me, the hum of engines blends into a rhythm that soothes the restless mind.

:pickup_truck: I think that each vehicle carries a story, and from this height, they all weave into one grand tale.

:sparkling_heart: Leaning against the handrail, the rush below contrasts with the calm vantage point, filling the heart with quiet delight.

:innocent: Standing there during my evening walk, I sense life’s motion and feel a simple, pure happiness in observing it.

Which Places does it Connect?

On the Pashan side of the bridge are numerous temples and museums.

On the Sus side of the bridge awaits modern life with high-rise buildings full of cafes and ice cream parlors.

Pashan Side Attractions

Someshwar Temple

This is a medieval temple called the ‘Shivkaleen Temple’.

A popular venue for local guides’ meetups, this temple complex has several smaller temples and 3 museums:

  1. The Spiritual Museum.
  2. The Museum of Scale Models of 12 Jyotirling temples.
  3. Indian Traditional Artisans Museum.

Sus Side Attractions

Khatri’s HomeMade Pot IceCream Parlor is my favorite place to go.

They had a nice outdoor seating arrangement.

Also, plenty of space for parking both 2-wheelers and cars.

Have you tried Pune’s pot ice cream?

Wait no further. Cross the footover bridge to Khatri’s Pot Icream and indulge in the yummy hand-made, homemade taste of various flavors of ice creams :ice_cream:

Which is your favorite footover bridge looking over a busy road underneath?

Wow I never thought a Footover Bridge could be such a photogenic spot as well, perfect for walkers and bicycle riders to pause and admire the views. Excellent photos @TusharSuradkar and a great find.

Here in Delhi I’m yet to come across such a Footover Bridge, usually they are poorly maintained and sometimes encroached upon towards evening.

Thanks for the appreciation, @Ssiddharth2000 :+1:

Same here. I walked in Delhi a lot, but such bridges are rare.

If we go near Neharpur Roopa on the Delhi-Jaipur highway in Gurugram, there is a footover bridge, famously called the Lohe-ka-Pul.

Great views of the highway from there…

@Ssiddharth2000 @TusharSuradkar There are some amazing foot overbridges I experienced in the Delhi NCR region - the ones that I remember the most were 1. ITO Foot Overbridge, Delhi and 2. Cyberhub Foot Overbridge, Gurgaon. Both are well maintained, offer amazing panoramic views for its users, however photography is prohibited for security reasons.
