Using wide angle lens for travel photography.

Modern smartphones often use dual lens cameras. Standard lens is generally 28mm focal length. Second one is usually telephoto lens (50-60mm), or wide angle lens (10-16mm). Focal lengths are defined on full frame sensor size.

Wide angle lenses are useful for these genres when traveling:

Landscape and mountain photography.

Urban and architectural photography.

Interior and lifestyle photography.

I have been using wide angle lens since 2006. It was Sigma 10-20mm lens on Nikon D80 camera with APSC size sensor.

Earlier i have been using standard lens kit Nikkor 18-70mm in panorama mode, stitching 2-3 pictures together.

Now I use my smartphone LG G5 wide angle lens camera and Fujifilm X100T (my travel camera) with wide angle conversion lens WCL X100.

Here are some examples from my portfolio:

Hi @KarolT ,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos with us. I really appreciate your tips on travel photography and how to use wide angle lenses. I also enjoy taking landscape and urban photographs when travelling, although I use only my mobile for the moment. I agree, it’s not as great as the professional camera, but they are pretty great these days.

Are you a photographer or you like it as a hobby? Could you please share the details of each photo, the aperture, shutter speed and ISO? I think it would be also useful for other Local Guides who are interested in photography.
