This is one of those cases we discovered not so long ago and called it “semi hidden” in a another discussion. Some of our photos never appear at the place listing under the All, Recent or By Me tabs, but can be seen by others, if you share the link with others.
After we found the first those situations, I looked at my photos and found several such cases. It did happen more likely, when I was posting more than three photos to the same listing. In your case, I saw at least one of your pictures, which did make it to the listing, correct?
Uploading the same photo multiple never helps. The AI will make the same decisions each time, instead to risk to be marked as “spammer”.
What you could try instead, is cropping the photo and see, if you can convince the AI to accept it. I’d try it with a landscape version of you photo.
Beside that, I agree with @new.user saying “don’t duplicate photos” or upload redundant photos. It might increase the possibility to be treated as “potential spammer”.
I think @anon53600968 has posted the photo separately under the ‘add photos’ section that’s why it’s not showing under their written review listing. This could also be a reason if I’m right @WilfriedB
No @ShifaAymal , I always post all pictures directly to the listing this way and never attach them to the review. When I post ten photos, not always, but many times 2 or 3 of them become “semi hidden” and the others show up in the listing.
Read the discussion here for more examples.
This is what I tried to explain, @anon53600968. Even though it is public (as we see it under your profile), it will never show up under the “Appully House” listing and there is nothing you can do against, besides trying with different photos.
I think I started reporting this situation six or seven years ago.
It is indeed a strange situation. Basically, even if the images are public (visible to everyone in our profile) some do not appear in the POI.
The last case happened to me less than a month ago.
On December 31st I went for a walk in the Cansiglio forest, to relax and take some photos in preparation for my post “1000 Shades of White” - The Cansiglio National Forest
During the walk I met some sled dogs in training. In fact, there is a school nearby where sled dogs are trained. I took some photos and videos, then I checked if there was a listing in Maps.
Indeed there was, with only one totally irrelevant photo plus the one from Street View
So as soon as I got home I chose and uploaded three images (one with the name of the school) and a video.
The video and two images were uploaded, while the third (the one with the name and logo) was blocked.
I immediately appealed and in a few hours that photo was uploaded too.
However, if you go to look at the listing, only the video is visible.
The other images are not present in the listing, even if they are visible in my profile
Two of the images also have some (few) views, while the one initially removed, and then “officially” published has no views, even if in my opinion it should be the “Cover Photo” of the listing
It seems that Google’s algorithm decides which images are relevant for the POI, and decides not to publish those that are not.
As I said, this is a fairly common situation, which I have been reporting for years. In the case of this example, which is quite “extreme”, I escalated it to the team so that they can use it as a “case study”.
Upload the same photo more than once is not a solution, @anon53600968, but you can try to edit a bit your photo and see if it will be published.
In any case I would like to ask you an additional question, @anon53600968 : Is that place a business? I mean, no opening time, no phone number. To me it looks like a private home
Hi @ErmesT
Thanks for your response, But still my photo isn’t in the listing. It’s good to know that many of us are facing the same issues… Feels Better…
Also can you please help to add mobile number to the listing, I tried so many times still getting rejected.
Some of those do show up under the pin of the city, region or some other layers and some even get views over time. This one, I discovered most recently.
Open the pin for the city and watch under the “By me” tab. You will be surpised, how many of your photos you find there, possibly including the one, you mentioned in this post.
Not sure, the purpose is to protect against SPAM, but it seems to be some algorithm limiting the number of photos shown on the listings. I guess, it most likely hits similar photos, but not sure about it … @anon53600968
I am not sure what the issue is because I am seeing all the pics you have uploaded… only thing I found is that two places you Posted pics are two houses…and as per google maps policies you can’t add houses to Google maps… I would suggest you Edit the house details and mark it as doesn’t exist here.
Nope, I cannot add a number if the number is not on a public directory, and clearly associated with that business, if it’s a business. And to me, as I said, it looks like a private house. Is it your home?
Do you mean that this is a business @anon53600968 ?
They had a link to a blog, where it Has no contact at all.
If your friend wants to add a business in Google Maps he has to go to claim it on GBP, not add it as a Local Guide with photos and reviews added by friends.
Of course he will have to demonstrate that the place is a business, it is in a public register, and so on
