💜 TracHERs – A new women’s team for TRAC

Creating a supportive space for women to map together, grow together, and enjoy TRAC at our own pace.

Hi everyone!

About two years ago I joined the TRAC campaign, when it was just starting. I was really excited because adding roads has been one of my favorite contributions on Google Maps for many years. Together with uploading photos, it’s something I truly enjoy and do very often.

Back then there were no teams yet, and everything felt very different from what we have today. It makes me really happy to see how much the campaign has grown thanks to the amazing work of the teams led by @ErmesT, @JustJake and @Kumaarsantosh, and of course the leadership of @SholaIB and the invaluable help of @MarcoDavoli :raising_hands:.

While participating, I noticed there were not many women joining. And I also remembered that at the beginning I didn’t always feel comfortable with the very competitive dynamic and the strong focus on numbers.

Why a Women Team? :cherry_blossom:

Like many women, I balance a lot of roles every day. A full-time job in tech, a growing family business, volunteering in my community, my Local Guide and Connect Moderator activities, and my family.

I love mapping, but I need it to be something that makes me happy, not something that adds pressure.

So I thought: what if we create a space where we can contribute together, at our own pace, feeling supported and relaxed?

This is how TracHERs was born and the name was chosen by the amazing women who have already joined the team :purple_heart:

Our objective :bullseye:

This team is for women who want to be part of TRAC in a safe, friendly and collaborative environment.

We will:
:sparkles: focus on shared goals instead of individual stats
:sparkles: help each other and learn together
:sparkles: celebrate every contribution, big or small
:sparkles: build friendships while mapping

Because every road we add matters :blue_heart:

Inclusion matters

Creating a space where more women feel comfortable participating also makes mapping more inclusive.

When more voices are represented, Google Maps becomes more accessible and more reflective of our real daily experiences.

And yes, in some communities women’s participation is still underestimated, so this is our way of changing that, by showing up, supporting each other, and contributing with confidence.

How will we work?

We will keep contributing to TRAC consistently, but with:

:check_mark: no pressure
:check_mark: no internal competition
:check_mark: flexible participation
:check_mark: a supportive team spirit

We’ll set simple shared goals to stay motivated while keeping the experience enjoyable.

:woman_raising_hand: Want to join us?

If you’re a woman whether you’re new to adding roads or you’ve been doing it for years you are more than welcome :purple_heart:

Please fill out this form to join the team.

What’s next? :purple_heart:

Hi @Cecilita Thanks for this wonderful initiative. I love the name of the program TracHers :two_hearts:.
Count me in, will fill in the form. Can’t wait to learn from everyone!

This is a truly commendable and nice step forward in advancing road editing through TRAC for the women’s team. The objective outlined above clearly reflects the vision and strength of the TRAC campaign, which has now rightfully evolved into a Global TRAC Community.

My sincere appreciation to @SholaIB for the thoughtful conceptualization and effective execution of this initiative, made possible through the collaborative spirit and active participation of everyone involved in the TRAC campaign.

Thank you as well, @Cecilita, for further strengthening this effort by enabling greater engagement through :purple_heart:TRACHers, truly reflecting the inclusiveness and unity of our growing community.

The working guidelines are precise, well-structured, and clearly aligned with the stated objectives. I strongly resonate with both the objective and the framework, as I have emphasized earlier. The clarity of direction not only strengthens implementation but also reinforces our shared commitment to achieving the intended outcomes.

Wishing you continued success in achieving the objective. I remain fully supportive and will actively contribute in every way I can, however small, to help move this initiative forward.

Submitted the form :raising_hands:t3:

I fill out the form already, but still trying to understand how to add the road into the map, @Cecilita.

@SholaIB give me some tutorial from his posts. I just don’t have time to study it yet.

Awesome initiative, @Cecilita!
Thanks for sharing this information. I hope many women join the team, it’s going to be awesome!

Thank you for sharing this amazing and meaningful initiative! A supportive and inclusive space like TracHERs will surely inspire more women to join the TRAC campaign and enjoy mapping without any pressure. Wishing your team great success. I’m looking forward to seeing many more contributions, friendships, and positive impact grow through this wonderful journey.:sparkles::folded_hands::sparkles::collision:

Your post also reminded me of my own TRAC journey. When I first joined the campaign and later rejoined during the second phase, I clearly remember who encouraged me the most to be part of a team. It was a wonderful woman Local Guide from the United States @Scheria who approached me on connect and motivated me to join as a team member. Although she later stepped away from the campaign, that encouragement stayed with me.
After that, I completed 5,000 road including 2,500 within a very short span of time. I even set a few records during that phase, which were later broken by @Sharthupendra

That’s why I truly believe initiatives like TracHERs will make a big difference. Creating a comfortable and encouraging space will help more women feel confident, participate actively, and enjoy mapping while growing together.

Uhuu @Cecilita let’s go! Feliz de estar con ustedes este año :dizzy:

Thanks for mentioning me @Kumaarsantosh I don’t have a laptop, otherwise I am really much interested in this.
