By now, you’ve likely heard of the massively successful TRAC (Index Page For TRAC-All You Need To Know)campaigns, where Local Guides from all over the world team up to help add roads to Google Maps. Since our first campaign, our TRAC team has added 100s of thousands of roads to the Map!
But, there is a lesser-known way that Google has set up to add roads to the areas most in need of work. This program is called Road Mappers* and was launched back in 2021.
The Road Mapper system is only available by special invitation. Google has not accepted new applications since 2023, but we’d love to shake the tree and see who would be interested in joining this important program. With any luck,we might convince the Googlers to open the invites and get some fresh Road Warriors access to Road Mapper.
So, what do you think? Leave a comment below if you’d be interested in joining Road Mapper! We may even launch a mini-TRAC just for Road Mapper in the near future.
This is a great idea, @SholaIB. I’ve been on Road Mapper since the beginning, and I miss our old dedicated Board. It’d be awesome to have some new blood in the program!
Danke für die Anfrage @SholaIB so wie ich täglich Zeit habe füge ich ein paar Straßen zu. Immer nur so 10-30 je nachdem.
Genehmigungen erhalte ich in ganz geringer Zahl.
Tröpfchenweise
@SholaIB It’s a great idea to bring back the Road Mapper … I have access to the platform as I have registered back in 2023 but only used it for few days… I would love to add roads again on it but as my laptop got damaged at the end of last year and Road Mapper won’t work on mobile devices, I am unable to use the platform…
Hello Captain @SholaIB It would be really amazing if Google was to resume giving invitation to join Road Mapper program. I would be very much interested. Thanks for this post
Hey @SholaIB. Good idea. I already have access, and draw roads on both platforms almost every day. If you can convince Google to allow new registrants, or you find enough of the previously registered LGs, I’d gladly join in whatever campaign you create.
I did a short Road Mapper campaign last year, and it was a lot of fun. We got a lot of great ideas out of it, which led to @Rednewt74 making an awesome tracking tool. The only challenge here is finding all of the folks who are active and coordinating since we no longer have a dedicated Road Mapper board.
