Tour fotografico in Italia: Murano and Burano

Shot of Burano

Another must visit places when you are Venice are the “sister islands” of Murano and Burano. While they share the same lagoon, they couldn’t be more different in personality: one is a masterclass in fire and glass, and the other is a kaleidoscope of color and delicate lace.

Hotel Where we stayed in Venice, arranged a private trip to Murano, to visit one of the glass factory and show room. After visiting the glass factory, we were dropped off to Venice, from there we took a water bus to Burano.

Murano: The Island of Glass

Just a 15-minute boat ride from Venice, Murano has been the world capital of glassmaking since 1291. It feels like a quieter, more industrial version of Venice, with wide canals and high-heat furnaces tucked behind ancient brick walls.

  • The Experience: You cannot visit Murano without seeing a live glassblowing demonstration. Watch a master artisan transform a glob of molten glass into a delicate horse or a vibrant vase in seconds.

Here is the Video of Glass Horse making we were able to watch during our visit.

Here are few pictures captured in the Glass factory!

Burano: The Island of Color

Burano is about the poetry of color. It is consistently ranked as one of the most colorful places in the world.

  • The Charm: Every house is painted a different, vibrant shade—hot pink, deep azure, lime green. Legend says fishermen painted them this way so they could find their way home through the thick lagoon fog.

  • The Craft: While the men fished, the women of Burano became famous for needle-lace. Authentic Burano lace is incredibly intricate and can take months to complete.

Beautiful!!!
I’m happy that you visited Murano and Burano, @jayasimha78 , and you enjoyed the visit.
The one that I love the most is Burano: Burano and the Venetian Lagoon - Inside a Crayon Box - Google Maps contribution stories - Local Guides Connect.
Next time you come in the Venetian area I will be happy to guide you, like I always do when a Local Guide friend comes in my area, as @YuliiaZa well know.
There are a lot of less known places that can offer an unforgettable experience

:heart_with_ribbon:

Burano is so lovely, especially on sunny weather. And it has some quiet areas, too, which is comforting regarding the number of tourists in Venice. @jayasimha78 , thanks for reminding me of my visit there with @JaneBurunina .

And I do highly recommend to explore that nothern part of Italy with @ErmesT . Lots of memories from various places that I could hardly find and visit by myself. Still, Venice is the only place in that area I explored without you, dear @ErmesT .

Beautiful post @jayasimha78

These are truly places that should be visited at least once in a lifetime to see with your own eyes the beauty and unique character of Murano and Burano!

It truly was an amazing trip @YuliiaZa Despite the rainy forecast, we were blessed with good weather, which allowed us to soak in the colors, atmosphere, and charm of Burano to the fullest.
