TORM Kick-Off...Let's go🚀

On your mark, get ready, go!!!

The whistle is gone now for our TORM event, 1st Oct-31st Oct 2025.
Please make sure you have access to Road Mapper. We plan to monitor the contributions of all participants throughout the event, as it is a community event. Therefore, please make sure you’re registered to participate with us. Here is the Participation Form. Our target is 3k Challenges, which is subject to increment or other changes as necessary. For those waiting for access, we hope that sometime soon you’ll get it. Kindly bear with us till we get confirmation from the team as usual.

If you haven’t gotten an E-mail from Jake at this stage, perhaps you haven’t registered. Otherwise, please let us know in the comments below.
Thanks.

TRAC On Road Mapper –TORM– is a sequel of TRAC itself. It basically runs the same way. There are a few differences, though:

  1. Road Mapper is not part of our public Google Maps profile.
  2. We don’t earn points as we contribute
  3. The Challenges/Roads to be added are presented to us by the system.
  4. The activities are counted in Kilometers and Challenges
  5. Road Mapper focuses on a few countries, where the Google team feels roads are most needed.
  6. Unlike regular roads on Google Maps, access to Road Mapper is invite-oriented and limited as well.
  7. Approvals here are very fast, and it’s daily in comparison to regular roads on Google Maps.
  8. Lastly, this works only on a Desktop/Laptop. You can’t add roads on Mobile.

A polite reminder and disclaimer

This isn’t a Google or Connect team organised event. This is my personal initiative as a Local Guide. We start on the 1st of Oct and finish up on the 31st Oct 2025 (GMT+0). There are no medals, gifts nor badges for participation. Just a sense of belonging and a voluntary participation as local guides to improve Google Maps. We have a Telegram chat for unofficial discussions and quick communications off Connect. That chat is very optional. Feel free to ask questions as necessary on and off Connect. We plan to organise Meet-ups as necessary.

All that settled, this is going to be a lot of fun. We are a dedicated group of Local Guides. Mind the accuracy and follow the rules of the event. Feel free to share your ideas, tips, and motivations with other participants and fellow Local Guides. Aside from myself as the host, kindly note that in my absence or busy times, feel free to reach out to @JustJake as the Co-Host of TORM. Have fun and see you down the road.

Happy mapping
Cheers

Looking forward to giving road mapper a go, thanks for getting me access @SholaIB

I don’t recall getting an email from @JustJake , but I submitted the form and guess that is all ok and I’m on the list. I’m starting from 0 so easy to get the count : ]

Best of luck with the TORM Challenge all

I’m assuming that as I’m tagged below, I’m properly registered.

Will there be a list of starting points, or a weekly updated list perhaps?

If I do a bunch of challenges today (September 30th) and they get approved on October 2nd or 3rd, do they get counted in October as part of TORM?

I also have challenges from yesterday (September 29th) that will probably be approved tomorrow (October 1st). How are those counted?

I like the fun part of the activities of TRAC but most importantly I always love to volunteer wherever, it will make impact on lives of ordinary people.

Let’s go with the Challenges completed during the month. Whatever Challenge count you ended with on September 30th will be your starting point. We’ll count the difference on the 31st.

Please complete this Form to get your starting count noted.

*edit: I see you’ve already completed the Form, thank you!

A very common occurrence, man. Sorry about that!

Hey Steve, the email contained a link to this Form for you to enter your starting Challenge count. That way, we can keep track of everyone’s progress. Please do fill it out.

Thanks @JustJake , I think Sholal linked me directly to that on a Connect post, but I’ve just filled it in and sent it again just in case I’ve made a mistake.

/edit, ah gmail classed it as Spam! so I couldn’t even search for it.
