I won’t delete any leaderboard that is actively used (e.g. data for which is updated by participating and leaderboards routinely checked by Local Guides) and referred to/discussed by the community. As you will know I kept the 360 album (now a gallery) and discussion topics going to leave the door open so if there is sufficient interest shown and an increasing number of Local Guides update their 360 sphere’s views etc then that could certainly be positive indications to bringing the 360 sphere leaderboards back. Another idea might be for you and/or other active shooters of 360 spheres, could start a post including a poll to see how many Local Guides would be interested in 360 sphere leaderboards.
All things considered @snieckarz, I think the difference between the three main types of camera activity is as follows:
Everybody does photos and most LGs reliably update their monthly information on the Leaderboards
A smaller but significant number of LGs do videos, but some don’t consistently take the extra steps to separate the stats from their overall activity.
The 360s are a niche category with very few participating, and the audience for that information is therefore small.
Although there is a lack of movement on Star Videos, there still is overall video activity. The same is true for Star Photos and overall photo activity. I consider the Stars to be part of the overall package, and that’s why Adam will likely maintain the current list of leaderboards.
Great suggestion. I’ll be in France and Spain for the next three weeks, taking plenty of 360 photos. Maybe the 360 poll will be my opportunity to take an active roll.
Nicely summarised @tony_b, and thank you for that. I’ve done everything that I can think of to drive up the participation and audience for all of the different media based Leaderboards so with regards to the 360 spheres, perhaps posts/polls by @snieckarz and other active in this media like @MarkAuchincloss, @LightRich, @Kumaarsantosh, @nigelfreeney, @LudwigGermany, @AT_Rome, @Trail_blazer and @efcxp etc can jump in here. Some punchy posts would help lift their exposure. For example, tips on how to shoot 360 spheres, the cameras used the benefits of 360 (e.g. immersive views) etc might help.
Hi @snieckarz
See my reply to @tony_b and perhaps I can jump in and help in the little slack time that I have! I do have one idea so let me think about it and I will revert.
Happy to take part but currently some distance from my PC and other resources. Specifically I’m currently on holiday in the Balearic Islands at Maspalomas.
Sorry @nigelfreeney for my late reply. I actually thought I had replied. Anyway all good here from you after the 27th. Maspalomas sounds like an awesome holiday. You said Balearic Islands but isn’t Maspalomas in the Canarias?
@TerryPG very nice wide angle shot. It almost seems like you used a tripod to create a long exposure, but probably didn’t? The water looks like thread in some spots, which is great and cool, and usually created by long exposure time. I also find the composition excellent in that your eye gets to travail the entire photo instead of one spot. Very well captured.
