I think of the Photos tab as the Media tab and Photo views as the Media views tab but yes I appreciate that it takes more effort to find the Star Video than it does to find the Star Photo so do we drop the star video boards until the Maps interface better caters for all this?
I donât want to stop the video boards however regardless if the numbers arenât changing from one month to the next, itâs important that Local Guides indicate this on the Leaderboard System.
We all look forward to seeing you on the Leaderboards @ShakilAK
DO NOT get me going!!!
I am curious; how do you replace your star video, since the most viewed one should be your star video? Am I missing something @Trail_blazer
No, I wouldnât want to do that.
Hi @TerryPG , Wow, that was a stunning waterfall shot. The cover photo is so impressive!
You add your new star to the Star Video album and change the permalink on the Leaderboard data entry page. In my case I put a link and a reference back to my old star so that viewers could go back to it if they wished.
No @AdamGT. To find our Stars, we have to sort our âmediaâ by Views, highest first. As none of my videos have nearly as many views as my photos, the first item in the list will be my Star Photo with 2,137,896 views. Following next will be my other two one million view photos and counting downward from 734,000 to 200,000. My first video (Star Video) comes in at 196,677 views. That video is 1 year old, while the photo is 6 years old. As none of my videos is more than 2 years old, many wouldâve been uploaded after the February 7th situation last year - therefore potential view counts would be much lower that the older photos which had much higher rates of growth before the change.
Adding a link and reference back to your old star is an excellent idea @tony_b and if I may, I suggest you also do the reverse. That is, place a link forward from your old to your new star. You can see that I have done it here. The point is you donât know where a user is going to land first and remember, these posts end up on the wide web and where an interested viewer doing a search could end up at either end of your star chain!
Ah yes of course @tony_b. Being almost brain drained when relying, Iâd forgotten that important fact.
Your videos and that of others might well be high up in the list @Annaelisa but as @tony_b rightly corrected me, when searching or stars one does this in views order and not date order so for many, the videos will be far down the list!
My hope here is that you mean that it requires very little effort for a Local Guide to update their monthly data
Thank you so much @PrasadVR
@LightRich Iâm always right Oh no Iâm not, @tony_b caught me out only recently
Iâm going to have to smarten up a bit LOL.
I appreciate that it takes time to check all the leaderboards but for the many reasons Iâve mentioned many times, this is very important and helps me get them right. Youâve only got to look at this monthâs Video Leaderboards to see that different people see different things and find things that others including myself might miss. As everyone will know where ever I can I have implemented features to save everyone time and minimise errors and I will continue to do this. I do my part and I need everyone else to do theirs
Haha a roller coaster, I love it! I understand but it encourages you to come back/ But let me explain, there is a reason for this roller coaster chaos and I am sure you will appreciate it. Simply said, it makes it much easier for even a beginner to gain full access, see and test out all of the advanced Leaderboard System features. For example, on day one you could very quickly and easily get full access (well for the time being that is because a change is in the wind) but anyway, after the first day you can get full access to all the advanced features including the Star Views Historical tables
Then if you decide that you donât want or need access for the rest of the month then so be it. Easy, peasy!
Thanks for explaining this. I hope that the Maps AI knows that this is the way it is in Mexico City
Ok, i finally have updated the Histoy Tables for all my stars and, indeed, my video views are stagnant since some months ago. Letâs see if other videos are having better numbers.
Excellent now we can see what is happening to your stars much ore easily.
Yes it seems that unlike your star photo, your star videoâs views are somewhat stagnant of late!
