Readme - How to read the Points leaderboards (February, 2026)
Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details see the leaderboard documentation and the Leaderboard System’s online context-sensitive help information.
The leaderboards in this post present details about the Local Guide points of hundreds of participating Local Guides from all over the world. As well as an overall leaderboard ranking the top 100 Local Guides by points, you will see leaderboards for different Local Guide levels which provide you with direct comparisons of your points achievements with that of your peers. Additionally, leaderboards are included that showcase the top Local Guides by points in each country.
Where shown, [ ] around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this is the first time that this Local Guide has participated on the Top 100 Local Guides leaderboards.
Where shown, ( ) around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this Local Guide levelled up/down on this leaderboard.
An asterisk (*) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicate that that Local Guide is a Googler.
The Leaderboards System uses 8 different superscripts to indicate the varying states of a Local Guide’s Maps and Connect profiles. On the Points Leaderboards a superscript of [1] indicates that while the Local Guide is included on the points leaderboards, because their Maps profile was hidden at the time of reading the data for this month’s Leaderboards, they will not be included on this month’s Photo Views and star media leaderboards (see point 14 below)!
Local Guides suspended or who have left the Local Guides program are excluded from the Points Leaderboards.
If you have changed (a) your Connect username, or (b) your Maps profile name or (c) your Maps profile status from public to hidden or vice versa then you may not appear on one or more of the leaderboards. If so then you must provide the details in a comment on this post.
Hovering over a Local Guide’s username will display the number that integrates that Local Guide’s details on the Leaderboards System and Connect; the umbilical chord if you will between the two disparate systems.
Selecting a Connect username will take you either to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile or to their HUB.
If a number is displayed in a small gray circle following a username, that number indicates the number of times anyone has selected that username to visit the respective Local Guide’s Connect profile or HUB.
A ? or the words “Not set” in a cell indicates that the respective value hasn’t been provided by or cannot be determined for the respective Local Guide.
Usernames shown as @Anonymous have either been deleted from or have left the Local Guides program.
The data for the leaderboards in this post was read at 0240 on Monday, March 9, 2026 (UTC).
Local Guides included on the leaderboards must check their entries for any errors. If you should find any errors or omissions, please add the details in a comment on this post. Regarding omissions, please note point 12 above.
Running very late this month due to lots of other work going on at the moment. A warm welcome to the new Local Guides joining the Leaderboards. I know a couple of you had some problems registering and that was almost entirely due to the new registration / log in system we only just introduced aimed at simplifying the registration process (no need to have a username and password) and improving the security. Anyway we managed to get you on “board”. There are lots more changes in the pipeline so stay tuned.
@Supriyadevkar, nice to see you here. Congratulations on securing your place in Level 9 Leaderboard.
This is another chapter of learning for us in the Local Guides journey.
A warm welcome right back @adamgt ! It sounds like you’ve had a massive month balancing all that work alongside managing the community.
The move to a simplified, passwordless login system is a great call for security—even with the initial “growing pains” of a new rollout, it usually makes things much smoother for everyone in the long run. It’s great to hear that the new Local Guides are successfully on board and ready to go.
Since you mentioned more changes are in the pipeline, the community will definitely be looking forward to what’s next!
We could call this the sin bin, or purgatory @tony_b but of course it’s not. Once you get into this abyss you become a roader and rapidly accumulate points so that you can take the bridge on the other side. As you say Anthony, it’s all good fun.
