The pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea: Elba Island

The first time I set foot on the island I was just an ugly baby a few months old.

Yes, ugly: in my first months of life I was very ugly, enough to make my parents worry. Fortunately, I have improved, but this is another story.

Every summer I go on vacation and now that my children are growing up, we like to travel far and wide to visit the most beautiful beaches and the best restaurants.

But the beauties do not end here, in fact it is possible to practice hiking, mountain biking and practically all water sports, primarily diving.

In Italy it is considered one of the most beautiful places to dive and the latter is also one of my favorite activities, during which I love taking pictures. In this regard, I take this opportunity to do some publicity, inviting everyone to see my underwater photos that I’m uploading to my Instagram profile: https://www.instagram.com/mastrozambo/ .

The underwater world is a magical place, silent, calm, full of life and always different: no matter how many times you visit the same place, you will always see new things.

There are so many beautiful places that it is practically impossible to see them and review them all, but since I have been Google Local Guide I am trying to describe and share as much as possible, since I would like to share with all the beauties of this place, which I consider my second home.

Ciao @MastroZambo ,

Welcome on Connect.

You brought me back to memories with this post. I have spent one of the most memorable holiday of my life in Elba. It’s a magical island, full of natural spots, great seaside, amazing food and historical importance as Napoleon was imprisoned here ( To be honest I wouldn’t mind to stay there imprisoned too).

In which period of the year are you usually going there?

Since you’re new to the community, you might want to share a bit about yourself and get to know others in our monthly Introduce Yourself topic.

Hi, I’m glad you liked it too.
In which town were you?
I am fortunate to have a small apartment in Rio Marina, which my parents bought 40 years ago, so every year I go there on vacation.
Usually we go there in July or August, when in Italy the companies close for the summer holidays, but the most beautiful period is certainly September. Even in June it’s fine, there are a lot of flowering plants, there is not too hot and there are few people, but the sea is still a bit cold.
What month were you gone?
