The most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide in Cartagena, Colombia

I’ve been collaborating as a Local guide about 4 years ago. And since I find about it, have become my passion. It’s so satisfying to correct information and add places that the whole community will benefit of. From locals to live in the city to tourist that doesn’t know the place and want to find hotels, restaurants, atm’s, among others.

As a Local guide I start thinking different in every trip I make. I always try to go to places I’ve never visit and take pictures with my google maps app always open in my phone. I visited 5 times Cartagena and before being a Local Guide, I always visited the same places. But when I became a contributor I went to Cartagena and start going new places. I was able to visit differents islands near Cartagena as Barú, Isla grande, Isla fuerte, Tierra bomba and Cholón. And try new restaurants in the city. But all this this in favor of being able to feed the reviews, photos and information from google maps and obviously know more about the city.

Here are some of those adventures in Cartagena:

Inside the the training ship ARC Gloria belonging to the Colombian Navy and the flagship of its naval academy.

Barú, one of the paradisiacal islands in Cartagena with cristal clear beach.

El interno Restaurant. One of the best experiences in my life. Is a restaurant inside a woman jail in the historical center of Cartagena. This is a foundation that work in second opportunities for the prison and post-sentence population of Colombia. Here you would be attend by prisoners and your food would be cooked by prisoners as well. This restaurant was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the best 100 places in the world in 2018.
