The most interesting thing I’ve ever done as the Local Guide:Prevent people from negative experience

Finding myself a person with a critical point of view I realize that it could matter while making reviews and preventing people from getting into unpleasant situations. There is a variety of details you can get from Google maps, thus you are being a part of it creating your own reviews. The most interesting thing I’ve ever done as the Local Guide is critical and detailed reviews on places to provide others with the atmosphere of the place without even visiting it.

Being a real foodie I used to visit various street food trucks, restaurants, really expensive restaurants with Michelin stars, snack bars to give the understanding of real value of food and its culture.

That is how the best impact could be made, how it works the best in real time, so it gives you updated information in order you do not waste your time getting to a specific place and suddenly realize that it was closed a while ago or it doesn’t match your expectations.

There are some of the interesting places I have visited and reviewed. My impact was significant for both: businesses,as they can improve there services/products and people who are trying to find an interesting spot for themselves.

The first to represent would be the Michelin restaurant in Brussels (“La Villa in the Sky”). Actually, it was almost the first to get my review in Google maps. My true intension was to share the other side of the culinary world with those stars and chefs who are able to surprise by making your starters on the show kitchen right in front of your table. In such type of places you get much more than food-it’s an exclusive experience that makes you feel special. All the service and attention you get worth 130 euros per person if you choose 5 course menu. Not so cheap and don’t expect to get a steak or fries. These places are known for exclusive dishes and higher quality food. However, while planning your dinner in such a place just keep in mind that you need to book it in advance.

What are my personal conclusions?!

Well, that is a type of experience you need to try anyway to have your own opinion.

I realized that molecular kitchen is not the best option for my stomach, but the view/service/attention/food was really good.

Another place I found great food and educational spot is located in Peru.

It’s also about food, though it’s not a restaurant. That is a specific class of Peruvian cuisine,so you may cook local and try local. Bingo!

Have visited this place for the second time. Realize that reviews and comments make this place flourish and develop. Reasonable price and interaction make this cooking class a must visit spot in Lima.

It’s not always about positive opinion or positive impact. Also got a totally negative experience with one hotel. It’s a five star resort in Rivera Maya,Mexico.

Never expected such a service. They charged the room price and afterwords inform that there are no accommodations available and the options they had were not satisfying our needs. No refund was made, nothing to show they regret such inconvenience. We needed to search another hotel and loose half of our weekend. It was not fair,so we applied to a chargeback procedure and the hotel return us money through the bank.

To say truth lot of times I say myself that I would leave a comment on a place (in times of negative experience more evident),but never think it was reasonable. With Local Guides I understand that people really matter opinion of others, especially local ones. And seeing a rate and comments would make you think of a reliability of the place you are going to visit.

That is the impact I made every time making a review,as I take a responsibility to be objective and suggest only places I have visited by myself.
