The most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide: Become an Unintentional Tour Guide

This was one of the most unforgettable moment of a lifetime. I don’t know what will happen if I didn’t play at Dunia Fantasi Jakarta that time. I think this story happened around middle of Summer 2019. As I write before, I visit Jakarta to play at Dunia Fantasi, the name of theme park. I think that was fate, around 6pm, I queue up to ride roller coaster, and I met two Italian couple, Andrea and Valeria. They’re kind people. We got to know each other and after they said they will go to Bandung (my hometown), suddenly I offered to be their guide even I haven’t tried it before and I don’t know exact the location that I want to guide to.

So, the day has come. It’s Monday, I rented a car along with the driver and picked them up at the hotel. And what I can depend on was Google Maps. And our destinations were Ciwidey area, located in Southside of Bandung. There were four places we would visit. Gratefully, there’s no traffic that day, maybe because that day was Monday. And the trip was smooth. We arrived safely. Thanks Google Maps.

#1 White crater or we native called it Kawah putih was one of many famous places to be visited by tourists when visiting Bandung. The location. They’re excited to hike around the crater.

#2 Next destination was deer breeding place at Rancaupas. The location was not so far from White Crater. The rightside of street. But, because the place protruded inward, we couldn’t see it. Maybe, I missed the place. And once more time, thanks to Google Maps, we could find the place. Have you ever had interact with deer directly? Then, you should visit this place. You can feed and take a photo with them. But actually, Rancaupas was not only providing deer breeding area, but also camping area and swimming pool.

#3 Rengganis Crater, I could this place was the hidden treasure. Because, there was no sign where exactly the place be. Even Google Maps lead us astray. So, we decided to ask the locals. And found it. We rent ojek (similar with taxi, but riding a motobike) to Rengganis Crater. And yeah, the reason I called it hidden treasure because the crater was behind a hill. We could enjoy and relax at the natural hot spring, literally. It’s not swimming pool, but it’s really natural hot spring. While, we soaked our body inside the pool, we saw other people rub their bodies with sulfuric mud.

#4 Nothing’s better than see the sunset on the boat. But, wait! Wasn’t we still on the hill? Hey, never underestimate Bandung. There was a place called Glamping Lakeside’s Pinisi Resto, or we could just call it Pinisi Resto. Pinisi name was inspired by our nation greatest sailor ship ever in history. It’s originally from Celebes or Sulawesi. And yes, this was restaurant. And we wait for the sunset here.

Being a tour guide, maybe one of my passion. That’s why I feel so grateful Google Maps helped me as a beginner tour guide. But, because I can’t guide everyone and everytime. So, I decided to write many reviews on Google and become one member of this community. Thanks for let me fulfill my passion. And yes, I hope all review I write and share can help everyone who read it.

I don’t know which rules I break. Because, it’s absolutely my original article or post. If you find any similar content about this. Because, that’s from my own blog. I wrote it in my blog “yukitamain.wordpress.com” and also I shared it on Google Maps review. All I do, rewrite what i wrote from blog as reference. That’s why you can see all the picture is same as on google, instagram or any social media accounts. Because that’s all my own pictures and articles.I can even tell you completely what has happened that time. Thank you.

  • @feilatan has to be a great experience being a tour guide of the place where we were born and we have always resided because we have many anecdotes and we have lived through the transformation of our environment … I would like to be a guide at least in my neighborhood and in my area that counts with a pipe with vegetation, birds and other animals, in Cartagena, Colombia …*
