The word Azim means grand or magnificent and the Azim Khan tomb lives up to name both in its construction and location. The only downside of this place is its maintenance which is not up to the mark.
Azim Khan was an army general during the medieval period and later embraced spirituality making this hilltop his home. Eventually, his tomb was built here.
The tomb is located on top of a rocky boulder and accessible via 30-35 steps that are in good condition.
The entrance is via a small opening in the fencing off a very narrow concrete road. I took this road from near the entrance of the Ahimsa Sthal. But there is also an entrance via the Mehrauli-Badarpur road where there is also a boom barrier. Just check for a board that points to the ShamSham Ghat.
From here I could get another glimpse of the amazing Qutub Minar. This reminded me of another view of the Qutub Minar for which I went to the Quila Lal Kot or the old Red Fort in Mehrauli.
If you havenтАЩt lost the child in you, and like me, still look to the sky when an airplane passes overhead this is an ideal place to be. This peaceful place lies directly underneath the descent path of aircraft landing at the nearby Delhi airport. During the 45 minutes that I spent there, I did not miss gazing even one of the 18-20 flights that passed directly overhead.
Given the location of the tomb atop a huge boulder, the accessibility is virtually non-existent and is limited to the parking, washroom/toilet at the base.
Ramp Access.
A wheelchair-accessible Entrance.
A wheelchair-accessible Parking.
A wheelchair-accessible Restroom/Toilet.
