Hi, fellow Local Guides and football fans!
I hope you’re all doing great!
As we prepare for the excitement of the upcoming World Cup, I am thrilled to step up as a Digital Host for the “Be a Digital Host: Join the World Cup List Challenge” announced by @Latika_Malhotra!
While I am a massive fan of the Germany national team, Portugal has truly become my second home. And Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) holds the title of my absolute favorite player, and I fiercely cheer for the Portuguese
National Team as well!
- A Different Vibe, Football Fans!
:
&
Growing up in Bangladesh
, I experienced firsthand the crazy excitement that grips football fans whenever the World Cup comes around, mostly split between Brazil
and Argentina
. Then, I moved to Singapore
for work and spent over 12 years there, where the football culture had a totally different vibe.
For the past 8+ years, I have been living in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal
. Here, football is celebrated on a whole different level! The city is home to two famous football clubs: Benfica and Sporting CP. While their local rivalry is intense, when the World Cup
comes around, it’s a whole other story the entire city unites in a massive, unforgettable celebration.
Living here in Lisbon, I know exactly what makes an unforgettable match-day atmosphere Lisbon has earned its reputation for legendary sporting vibes for a reason during a major tournament, the energy here is unmatched. My heart beats for that electric atmosphere where fans gather over great, freshly brewed local beers like Sagres
and Super Bock
, enjoying standard match-day favorites like fries
, alongside local staples like a perfect Portuguese
Traditional Snack Pastel de Nata. ![]()

Watch the World Cup at a Tapas Restaurant in Lisbon.
The 100 Montaditos Oriente is the perfect spot for the FIFA World Cup 2026! If you’re looking for a place with an electric
atmosphere, affordable food
, and a great crowd, this is it. It gets very busy during matches, so make sure to arrive early to grab a table. The wide variety of ‘montaditos’ (small sandwiches
) is great for sharing while you watch the game. Highly recommended for a fun, casual match-day experience, and especially with the views over Parque das Nações. Here are also available accessibility features:

- Exciting news:
The Lisbon City Council and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) have joined forces to transform Praça do Comércio into the capital’s official fan zone: the Lisbon Football Arena. The arena will be open from June 11 to July 19, featuring daily broadcasts of one or two matches. Admission is free for everyone. I will share more details here soon.
