Pastel de Nata is a popular Portuguese custard tart pastry. You can find it almost everywhere in Portugal. Pastel de Nata is a sweet, tiny, puffy pastry filled with delicious custard.
To experience an authentic and unique taste of Pastel de Nata, you must visit this Pastéis de Belém restaurant in Belém, Lisbon, which has been in operation since 1837.
Today, I took these two photos of the Pastel de Nata from ALDI Areeiro, Lisbon.
Portugal is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, so many tourists come here to taste this authentic Pastel de Nata, and there are often long lines. I went there last month and saw a huge line outside the store around noon. It’s worth waiting for the taste of this authentic pastry.
I’ve been living in Portugal for over seven years, and I can’t count how many times I’ve eaten this traditional Portuguese pastry, Pastel de Nata. Although I bought some of these delicious snacks today from an Aldi supermarket, the price was cheaper, but it wasn’t authentic.
My previous workplace was in Singapore, where I ate this delicious snack multiple times out of curiosity, but I don’t know its origin. Nowadays, it is available in many Portuguese colonies, as well as in Malaysia and Singapore.
Therefore, when I first came to Portugal, a colleague of mine took me to try these delicious pastries, and I realized they were originally from Portugal. Believe me, the taste was completely different from the ones I had in Singapore.
Dear Local Guide, if you can find this delicious Portuguese snack in your city, please take a picture and comment here. Thank you for your time and for reviewing my post.
