Thank you to our Google Team for listening to community feedback and improving Connect behind the scenes.
In July, I hosted a virtual meetup on Connect Tags. Later, I realized that a recap had been written by a meet-up participant, who was unaware that recaps should be written only by the host or a Local Guide authorized by the meet-up host. Since the recap didn’t reflect the main objective of the meetup, I contacted the Google moderator.
Due to technical limitations, she suggested writing the correct recap in comments (to be pinned) and creating a separate post covering the conclusions/suggestions. Based on my experience, I chose a separate post, as comments don’t get the same visibility.
This led many of us to follow the practice of reserving recaps, but that too had a drawback—when detailed content was added later, the post lost visibility.
Recently, while summarising LG10ScavengerHunt meetups and writing a post on India 2025: Mee-ups at a Glance I noticed some posts showing “This event has concluded” instead of “Create Recap or View recap.” After verification, I understood that the “Create recap” option is now available only to the meetup host.
This change removes the need to reserve recaps and ensures better visibility and correct authorship.
From July to December, it’s encouraging to see how community issues are thoughtfully addressed.
Thank you once again to the Google Team.
Edit:
Hello @AngieYC,
I request you to please review this post along with the comments shared by @TusharSuradkar & @NunungAfuah and my reply to her. Could a Google Moderator add a final comment for future reference, clarifying whether we should reserve the recap or not?
