Supporting Pohe-Selling Local Breakfast Business in Pune

:sun_with_face: Pohe is one of Pune’s most beloved breakfast staples, enjoyed by locals every morning.

:potato: It’s made with flattened rice, tempered with onions, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and often garnished with fresh coriander and lemon.

:lemon: A squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of sev or peanuts give it a signature Pune twist.

:cityscape: From roadside stalls to family kitchens, Pohe is a comfort food that defines Pune’s breakfast culture.

 Affordable, light, and flavorful, it perfectly captures the city’s love for simple yet satisfying meals.

Usually, we enjoy Pohe at home.

During the meetup in PCMC last week, I tried Pohe at a local food joint called Jaika Chai 89.

I also had **Bun-Maska** with Chai.

It is my favorite outdoor breakfast food.

Bun means soft bread
Maska means butter .

Here’s my post on the Top 18 Bun Maska in Pune.

@TusharSuradkar. Oh! Never knew that Pohe is popular in Pune too

@curatorofmemory, Pohe is a quintessentially Puneri or Maharashtrian breakfast item, but the Indori or MP versions are also popular because of the Marathi influence there historically.

Die Frühstücksspeisen sehen sehr gut aus. @TusharSuradkar
Allerdings könnte ich Pohe erst als Mittagsessen vertragen. So früh am Morgen ist für meinen Magen das Brötchen gut und lecker. :face_savoring_food:

Thank you, @Annaelisa :+1:

For many years and decades, I had bread for my breakfast - with milk :glass_of_milk:

Komischerweise kann ich Milch nicht vertragen, dafür aber viele andere Milchprodukte wie Joghurt, Buttermilch usw.

Why 89? Is there any year reference?

Sounds very appetizing @TusharSuradkar. Excellent to highlight this.
