Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this crucial time. I know this is not easy and know exactly what everyone is going through but I know we will all be strong and get through this.
I wanted to share and talk about my experience supporting local businesses in my city, which is Miami.
Keeping restaurants, stores, coffee shops and other small local businesses alive through these difficult times does much more than help the business owner. These owners don’t only support themselves, but they also are responsible for the livelihoods of all of their staff. There’s this small Sushi restaurant near my house that I always order from called Asian Garden, and Seeing the owner struggle to stay afloat over the last few weeks has had a big impact on the community and those surrounded. In less than a week, the owner was thinking of closing the restaurant temporarily because she was losing hope, she also was having to lay off staff who had been with her for a long time. The staff members and business owner are all super friendly and work hard because they are passionate about what they do and are brave enough to risk their livelihood on themselves. I am one of those regular customers that still buy and order no matter the circumstances, thankfully, the business is still open for pick-up, takeout and delivery only which is great.
One way that we can help our local businesses and the community is by ordering take-out, curb service and delivery. This is a great way to support your local restaurants while keeping your family “in some grub”. Even if your local storefronts are not open to the public, they may be serving customers by appointment and curbside.
We can all make a huge impact on the local businesses in our area. The effects of COVID-19 have become a reality for many. However, small businesses are bearing a unique financial burden. Fortunately, they have us when we can help keep these companies afloat with some small, but helpful measures. Not only does it help them, but it also allows us to find another way to enjoy and give back to the community, it is a rewarding feeling.
