Street Art about Sustainability in Smart City Pune

Yesterday, while walking from the bus stop to the Old Mumbai Ice Cream Parlor

I passed a street lined with walls with art and graffiti about Sustainability.
This was the time I remember about the Street Art Challenge by @MathanVibranarayan.

The photo below is of one of the walls near Balewadi.

This street was about a mile long and had only walls on both sides, no shops, no gates, no businesses, or anything.

One of the most captivating series of art was that from sea life, which illustrated how throwing plastic bottles, cups, and straws in the ocean affects sea life.

An interesting series of artwork that spanned 4 walls was the complete life cycle of reusable waste.

This series of wall art showed how reusable waste was taken to a factory using an electric vehicle, then reprocessed, and then sent to the market, and again used by the consumer. How cool is that…

The street arts that I liked the most are these timeless 4Rs

All along the street, the message was loud and clear:

This set of street art and its messaging was simply superb, worth framing these in gold as I have done here:

All the street art about sustainability was simple, yet impressive.
I could not take my eyes off as I walked along, taking pictures.

The artist had made use of simple pastel color palettes to drive the message home.

Here are the final goals of Smart City Pune:

  1. SDG by 2030.
  2. Zero Waste.
  3. Green Earth for all.

This post is in response to the challenges by:

  1. Dr. @K.K.Sharma - Celebrating the #Sustainability Tag on Connect.
  2. @Rahul001 - Celebrate International Plastic Free Day.
  3. @MathanVibranarayan -Street Art Challenge.

Perfect message driven street art. This is one of the best examples of portraying deep message to the society.

Thank you @TusharSuradkar for capturing and sharing here.

Are they referring to ‘Recover’ as 4th R?

Wow Tushar ji! :herb:
This is not just a visual treat but a powerful storytelling canvas on sustainability. The way you’ve documented the life cycle of reusable waste and sea-life awareness through street art is truly commendable.

The message of 4Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle stands tall, and connects so well with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Glad to see how your post also responds to community challenges by @Rahul001, @MathanVibranarayan and myself – a perfect example of Connect collaboration!
Pune’s Smart City initiative is certainly smart in its awareness efforts too.

Thanks for inspiring us through both art and action! :globe_showing_europe_africa::artist_palette::round_pushpin:
