well, there is an old places/cities in map the old editors just decide to wrote them in English but they did not except any kind of edit to add another language name e.g Arabic like other cities named in arabic " Circular".
how can we make the names appear in arabic to make all names as 1 language?
Towns, roads and squares are elements of the Map Layer. Local Guides cannot edit that layer. Only Google Maps team can.
What we can do, for helping the team, is to:
Report an error on Google Maps, through the “send a feedback” that you will find scrolling down your menu on Google Maps. For more details you can read: Report an error on the map
Report the issue on the Google Maps Help Community for them to raise directly the issue to the Google Maps team
Whey you will raise the issue to them, please remember to attach a link to an official (governative) map or document to support your request
it’s selected ( arabic ) already @MortenCopenhagen this is why you see the other cities name shows in arabic not english, but only a few cities/road they didn’t accept editing to add arabic name to them, so they just pop up in english while other in arabic…
I would like to ask you to tag the people you are talking with, by using @ followed by the username of the person you want to tag. The last people in the conversation will also appear in a pop-up
@ErmesT Since you tell me I tried and post on google map community but no one answering me there I waited for 48 hours no one even replied to me.
also from what I read there the community running by volunteers not from Google map team Itself.
we all know Google map is multiple language app so when you set the language to Arabic for example everything shows on Arabic cities, street, names the app itself but some places/cities still showing in English for unknown reasons and when I Try to edit them and add Arabic as secondary name they did not except any kind of edit.
so from your experience what is the problem and who is the one that can solved it.
I do everything possible on the Internet searching asking digging but nothing comes up with me.
I haven’t studied the places you just shared links to.
But I would like to share a few facts that might explain why the names in more languages are often problematic.
New places can be added using English or Arabic. Then the other language is most likely missing.
What complicates things is that some Local Guides are not aware of the fact that we should always be aware of what language is selected and never add an English name in the Arabic name field and vice versa.
So when you see only one name field it is the one selected in the App.
Sometimes I need to copy and remove the text in a name field just to chck what the language is. And the paste the name back if it is in the correct language.
This is actually a lot of work. And Google is not making it very easy for us to clean up the language mess.
The last one is a normal pin. I can’t help you with the Arabic related stuff since I can’t change my language to Arabic to test and then be sure to gong my way back. I use Danish and English all the time.
