Solemn Evening at Lake Tekapo, New Zealand

Sometimes, a little break is what we all need.

After all those weary days, weeks and even year packed with never-ending deadlines, demanding requests and back-to-back meetings, all we crave is a little peace and quiet. Or in my case, a little road trip to beautiful nature with my loved ones, doing what we love most.

I recently read the @OliverKIWI post about a love letter to photography and I have to say, I have been in love with photography since I don’t know when. For sure, I often use photography as my refuge. Not a professional one, but I always enjoy the opportunity to capture some of those special places and moments around us, as best as I can.

So recently, as we embarked on a 11-day-on-the-road trip exploring the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, we stopped by in Lake Tekapo, one of the popular spots in this region. We certainly didn’t want to miss the chance to photograph the place. One solemn (and rather cold) evening, my family and I decided to stick around and explore the lake, parking outside the Good Shepherd Church,- a unique, rather small, picturesque church made of stone, that beautifully sit on the bank of Lake Tekapo.

And staying here, witnessing magical sceneries that nature presented at different hours, was truly rewarding.

Here are some of the photos taken around Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd.

One during the golden hour…

One with purplish hues … my favorite!

And the starry night, after the sun completely set and stars shone bright. Almost midnight time during summer days…

As you can see, nature is very mesmerizing.
Exactly what I need to recharge my soul.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do @OliverKIWI @TravellerG @Ddimitra @AdamGT @Mikeinthefalls

Surely enjoyed reading your post, very much & thank you for tagging me.

11 days on road? Where did you (start) STAY during that travel at night?

Yes, I’m aware that the purplish colour is your favourite…

& for me the bluish shot also is excellent…

Lake Tekapo of Newzealand is New to me - thanks for introducing a new destination.

Can I request you to kindly add one or two Lake View shot in your post & tag me again.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed your break…

Eagerly waiting for more from you.

Thank you so much @TravellerG . Yes, 11 days on the road and we flew from Wellington to Christchurch, where we picked up our rented card and drove down up to Dunedin, stopping along the way in so many beautiful cities and places. I hope I can share them here completely, please bear with me.

I will share more … after these endless zoom meetings I have with the office LOL.

Hope you like Lake Tekapo, Sir… it’s such a wonderful place to be.

Hello @indahnuria ,

The Church of the Good Shepherd near Lake Tekapo is something impressive.

The church, the space around it, the water of the lake, the mountains in the background, many elements that help to rest the mind and soul.

A very special place. Thanks for sharing the post.

Very much… dear friend @indahnuria

Nice Post with excellent photos… Really impressive.

Incidentally, my question was…

'Where did you spend the nights for your 11 days travel…?

(There was a typographical error, which I have corrected - Here)

“… please bear with me…”

Fully understandable… Take your time, please.

Expect your tagging in your post…

Best wishes to all in your family.

Greetings…

Thanks, dear friend @DENIT33

Your response to our @indahnuria is interesting…

Is the place very familiar to you?

“… The church, the space around it, the water of the lake, the mountains in the background, many elements that help to rest the mind and soul…”

Mentally imagining such an environment itself is cooling to our mind…

Once again thanks for your valuable companionship.

“Is the place very familiar to you?”…
When I answered this question I thought of the church, because they are everywhere in Italy and this made me smile.
I love nature and luckily I don’t live in big cities, but in a small town close to hills and mountains.

I really enjoy spending time in nature.

Thanks @TravellerG

Best regards :handshake:

Hi, friend @DENIT33 ,

Prior to Covid 19, I used to stay in a famous hill station by the name of Yercaud, India. (we have a Villa here) It was a great place, full of ‘Nature’ and totally pollution free - there are churches here also.

Now, I stay in a very busy Metro City (Bangalore), and I’m forced to take anti-allergic tablets, due to pollution.

Here, we have many churches.

I keep going to Yercaud to enjoy Nature…

Thanks for your kind response…

Greetings with regards,

TG from Bangalore, India
