SOAK Elwood, Victoria, a beauty salon, has a unique way for clients to access their menus for both services and drinks. They have placed a notice on an exterior wall that gives you the QR codes to these menus.
When I did my review of this business, I included a pic of the notice.
Today I was checking the Services heading and saw this:
I added my photo of the QR codes menus. Unfortunately, it has placed that pic in the Updates > By visitors section. I was expecting to see it appear in the area above the list of services. To me that is the sensible place to show the QR codes.
Please read or follow our community guidelines. Maybe try uploading the photos again, that should work. If it makes it duplicate then it will violate the guidelines of Duplicate photos, meaning spam, so please do it carefully. Thank you.

I’m not sure if sharing a photo of a qr code is helpful to Maps users. The business can add the link directly in their Maps listing, so users can click on it and see the price list.
I would not know how to use a qr code in a Maps photo. I normally don’t have 2 mobile phones on me.
I also noticed how photos sometimes turn out as photo updates rather than a normal photo. I’m unable to explain the logic behind this.
Ich bin in Bezug auf QR-Codes sicher altmodisch.
Ich mag sie nicht, weil ich nicht auf Anhieb sehen kann, was darauf dargestellt ist.
Wie viel schöner ist doch eine übersichtliche Preisliste! @janina1
I often male photos of the menu lists on paper. After posting, I realized they don’t appear under Newest, but under Menu.
I agree,@MortenCopenhagen instead of showing a photo of the QR code, a link would be much better. If the listing neither already shows a link to the restaurant nor to the menu, we can suggest a link to the restaurant. I think, you are right, the link to the menu can only be added by the business owner.
Thank you for your suggestion. Along with @MortenCopenhagen comment re not carrying two phones (!), I have removed that pic from Updates and also my review.
Please note, I cannot see a Translate button here on LG Connect, and trying to copy the text to do so doesn’t work either. Please write in English if possible, thank you.
Further comment: The SOAK Bar does have a website that shows a Services menu, along with a hard copy detailed brochure that clients can take home. Issue resolved.
Note to self: Don’t write reviews when tired. One can miss important details. Ho hum.
Hello @janina1 I am sorry to hear you don’t have the translate button
This should be escalated by an moderator ( @MortenCopenhagen …?), since not everybody is able to write and read perfectly in English language.
Anyway, here my translations of @Annaelisa’s comment and mine:
Annaelisa:
”I’m definitely old-fashioned when it comes to QR codes.
I don’t like them because I can’t immediately see what they show.
How much nicer is a clear price list!”
Wilfried:
“I agree with @Annaelisa! There have been scams involving malicious links hidden in QR codes. Even if you see the link on your smartphone before actually opening it, there’s still a risk.“
Even though I can’t speak another language than English, I do sometimes use Google Translate to make translated Comments to people who prefer other languages instead of English. It could possibly be a cool tool for you to use.
@Annaelisa and @WilfriedB Hi guys, Today I have gone into my LG Connect profile and set preferences for a few things, as it’s been a while since I did that. I notice that the translate globe has appeared! Yay.
