ROCK GARDEN - (MADE OUT OF RECYCLING WASTE)

Hey everyone wishing you all a happy thanksgiving in advance I hope you have a lovely one.

Today I am sharing you one of the most famous tourist spot in Chandigarh called rock garden it is also know as Nek chand saini rock garden.

Nek chand saini started making this garden in 1957 he made this garden by recycling the waste thrown by people. Till 18 years garden was been kept secret to govt authorities and was made up of like 12- acres now the garden area covers nearly 40-acres

All the sculpture in this garden are made from waste ceramics in-fact the whole garden is built from industrial waste, home discarded items like mugs, bangles , flooring marbles etc.

The sculpture are of dancers, musicians and animals.

Nek Saini use to visit the dumping places from where he use to collect all the waste materials and by his vision he tried to make his best out of it.

He first never told any one he secretly started making this garden by himself and later authorities came know about this secret garden and garden was in risk it might get demolished but local people really appreciated about this good cause so it was officially announced as a public garden.

There is also made a man made inter linked water falls it’s really beautiful kids and family really enjoy clicking pictures we also clicked some good pictures out there.Recently the new Bollywood movie sheershah had shot their few scenes of their movie in this garden.

Entry fee is very nominal you have to follow protocol of wearing mask.
Avoid visiting in the afternoon because the weather is very hot you can visit like after 4-pm. As the garden is really built on a huge you will nearly take like 20 mins to complete the whole tour.

Nearby to Rock garden

Elante mall - 7.1km

Sukhna lake- 2.1KM

chandigarh rose garden - 3.6KM

mahendra chaudry zoo logical part - 23KM

timber trail.

Most important thing to note if you visiting Chandigarh the areas are mostly define by the sectors so if you want to visit some place you should perfectly know in which sector does it falls.

Thank you

Wow, what an inspiring story of a cool garden @Pratik_89 ! What a way to build a garden. Wishing I could visit there someday. Can we, the visitors, try to build the sculptures using the waste?
