Pune is home to dozens of museums ranging from Space exhibits to Tribal Art.
Last week I visited the RK Laxman Museum in Baner.
This is only a couple of blocks from my residence.
This is a 3-stored building hosting several galleries that exhibited the cartoons by eminent cartoonist R. K. Laxman.
Here’s the office of the museum that also has on display, the Ambassador car used by RK Laxman.
One of the exhibits also has a life-sized wax statue of the cartoonist in his office setup when working for the newspaper ‘Times of India’.
The Crow is also a prominent feature of RK Laxman’s cartoons.
Stuffed crows are also exhibited in the museums in various poses as they appeared in the cartoons.
This is known as Taxidermy.
Among other major features and attractions at the museum are the family tree of the cartoonist, the announcement of the cartoon series back in 1957, and an accessible washroom.
They also had a cafe on the museum premises, that was not operational on the day of the visit.
They also had the customary souvenir shop with the Common Man theme objects that were priced exorbitantly.
It was an enjoyable visit since it was raining outside while comfortable and warm inside the museum
Some of the museums that I visited recently in Pune are:
-
Aviation Museum on JM Road, Pune.
-
Science Park in PCMC, Pune.

Thank you @Annaelisa
This museum is dedicated to a cartoon character that appeared in the newspaper.
That character is called ‘The Common Man’ and has become very popular over the past 80 years.

Es muss schon ein besonderer Cartoonist gewesen sein, dass ein Museum mit seinen Werken dargestellt wird.

Thank you for the appreciation @SaylliWalve1
It often surprises me that it took so many years to visit here when it was within walking distance from my home in Pune.

It was wonderful time spent together here, @TusharSuradkar .
He is the one who made our entire family laugh. I remember my friend’s father asking us to read articles from The Times of India almost every day. After that, I always asked his father to explain the humor in his cartoons and attempted to sketch it myself.
It is a very fond memory for me. To me, he will always be a legendary artist.
Cheers!

Thank you @Maximilianozalazar Unfortunately very few people go to such museums since it is mostly about cartoons and caricatures.
