Hello LGs,
Taking advantage of my visit to New Delhi, I organized a meet-up at Janpath Market on September 30, 2024, at 3 p.m. IST to promote local businesses.
It’s a small one compared to others in New Delhi, but a very lively, happening place since most of the sellers here have new clothes, artistic bags, artefacts, metal jewelry, and souvenirs.
Even though it was Monday, a working day, we had 10 attendees; most of them were in Delhi with me for the same reason. However, we had a couple of new members attending the meet-up for the first time, which was a surprise and happy moment for me.
Attendees were:
@NareshDarji from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, @TusharSuradkar from Pune, Maharashtra, @LovePathak28 from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, @RaviSharma111 from Patna, Bihar, @TravellerG sir from Bengaluru, @PrasadVR from Visakhapatnam, @Prince_Kumar from Noida, @Raj_Tayade from Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, and @pK19931 and Mahesh from Delhi, were attending for the first time.
My heartiest thanks to all of them for making it a successful meet-up.

We met at the agreed-upon location, around 3 PM IST, at the entrance to the Janpath Market on the Janpath roadside. Many of us were meeting for the first time in person, and that created a heartening atmosphere. I explained to the members that because it is a crowded area and new to us, we should take precautions when taking photos and updating Google Maps.

We saw that people were excited to buy the local products, and looking for the latest products displayed, it was a great feeling. I took advantage of this opportunity to show the members how to add the most recent updates to Google Maps’ “Explore tab,” allowing them to see them firsthand before visiting the area. This is the simplest method available in Google Maps to support the businesses and add to our cause too.

We also had a few local guides around India attending it virtually, which was a moral boaster for us. My sincere thanks to them for supporting this cause.

After spending almost an hour there. We decided to visit Jantar Matar, which was very close to the location.
It is a very famous location for having 13 architectural monuments as observatory showcasing astronomical values. This is one of the five monuments built by Jaipur’s Maharaja Jaisingh II since 1723, later restored in 1910.

I will write a separate detailed post on this later.
We enjoyed and relaxed for some time till sunset and then dispersed by making a promise of meeting again. Prem and Mahesh promised to host a meet-up with the help of Prince and other active local guides. In addition, as regular members, we will assist them with any questions they may have.
