Hello everyone,
I’m back with another recap of my meetup. The Accessible Delhi Metro was part of both my Accessible Metro Series and Accessible Public Transport Series.
I must say, Delhi has the best metro network in India — and it has grown significantly since 2014, when I first travelled in it. The changes over the years are hard to miss.
This meetup covered two of the most popular and crowded metro lines: the Blue Line and the Yellow Line. Below are the key highlights:
Photo of the station board at Janakpuri East Metro Station – where the meetup began.
Accessibility signage at Janakpuri East – visible and well-placed.
Lift clearly marked for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and the unwell – appreciated.
A functional lift spotted at RK Ashram Metro Station.
A simple signage showing the way to the lift – useful for first-time users.
Reserved seats inside the metro for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Another accessible lift found at Old Delhi (Chandni Chowk) Metro Station.
Couldn’t skip a selfie moment next to one of the accessible lifts!
Lift heading towards the ground floor – essential for smooth mobility.
It was a satisfying experience exploring how one of India’s busiest metro networks is addressing accessibility. This meetup also marks my 4th city and 5th meetup in the Accessible Metro Series — more to come soon!
Thank you for your valuable time!
Anshuk.
