Supporting Women-Owned Businesses Through Maps

The Challenge in Chandni Chowk
Finding women-owned businesses in the Chandni Chowk area proved to be quite difficult due to the heavy crowds. While women were seen working in several shops, it was usually men who handled the cash and occupied the owner’s seat—clearly indicating male ownership in most cases.
A Glimpse of a Woman-Owned Business
I was able to identify a business called Saree Sansar, which is owned by a woman. However, the shop was also overcrowded with female customers. When I requested a photograph of the owner at the cash counter, she politely declined. She did, however, allow me to take a photo of the storefront from the outside.
