Nice sharp and clear photos @Nuhuu . Good to see no flat tires there!
Thank you @AdamGT
haha flat tyres = no smooth landing
Hello @Nuhuu ,
Thank you for sharing. I believe travel adventures always begin at the airport. For this reason, I also take photos before leaving for a new destination. I want to remember the excitement.
Do you always take photos at the ariport? Can you tell us more about your trip and the story behind these photos? What made you think of them after 3 years?
Each photo has a story and we always encourage Local Guides to share theirs. How to tell a story through your photography and How do I write a post on Connect will give you some helpful tips.
Hi @Ekattotii ,
Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I always take pictures of new places especially starting with airports. Most of these pictures I don’t necessarily like them at that moment, but whenever I come back to them it brings back the memory/experience of the places. I am not so well traveled though I love to travel at any opportunity I get and I get excited about it.
This picture up here was on transit when I had a layover in Addis Ababa while I was going to Doha, Qatar. I spent the night there and it was a splendid experience. It was my first time there i really loved the weather there, it was pretty much cooler than my country I guess it could be because of their abundance green lands which you could see even before landing. That was the first time in my life I was in a temperature below 10 degrees C.
I enjoyed my rides with the local drivers whom always had Ethiopian ‘kignit’ songs playing on their radio, a very nice sense of culture. They were as inquisitive as I was, always eager to learn about where I came from, most of them said they knew Nigeria but they didn’t think I was from there because they didn’t usually meet people from my region as Nigeria is very populous and diverse. It is quite a travel hub for Nigerians because they usually connect us to other cities since we currently have no national airlines that connect to many international destinations.
I wanted to try their local food that night but didn’t want to risk myself to any form of nausea because I was only laying over at a hotel they gave us. As we went to get food with the friend I made, an Ivorian, that was when I learnt that Ethiopians never eat with their left hands though I can’t recall the reason why.
My flight had all female air hostesses and they were very welcoming, the same as the locals their too, always wearing white traditional cloth. I saw them as I passed by local shops and small community markets.
Although these are pictures I got from videos I took saved in my computer. I hope they are manageable.
This is a city I would really love to explore more as I see them rooted deep in culture.
