Photography in Strasbourg

Hello,

I live in Strasbourg since now 2 years and, as a student in design and a passionate in photography, I would like to share with you in this post some cool places where to shoot in Strasbourg.

The Cathedral

First of all, the building for which the city of Strasbourg is very famous: the Cathedral Notre Dame of Strasbourg. Every day, no matter the weather, event in the fog, she is always beautiful. My advice will be to try to photograph her at a different time during the day and the night or try to find another interesting point of view as for example at his foot while looking in the area to have a huge against diving.

Walk the city by night

My second advice will be to explore the nightlife of the town, especially in the city center, with all the lights. Because in Strasbourg it rains often, you probably have the chance to have water on the ground and therefore use it to compose your photo with reflections.

It will be also more interesting to do that exploration during the Christmas market in December because the number of lights in the city triples during this period.

Parks and Gardens

If you are a nature lover like me, you will surely love the parks of Strasbourg. My favorite is by far the botanical garden of the university. Situated close to the city center and the university, it a gorgeous a haven of peace and the greenhouse is totally awesome!

Urbex

My final point will be concerning urbex (URBan EXploration). If you are a bit observant, or smart looking on the internet, you could find some big and majestic abandoned places in Strasbourg and Alsace. For example, the one in the photo below is an old disused printing works in Schlitigheim, a small city next to Strasbourg where you can go with tram B.

I hope those pieces of advice will help you in your exploration of Strasbourg and give you some ideas for your photographs.
