Had the experience of finally going paragliding while touring in Cape Town, South Africa. We went with a company called Parapax Paragliding. It was just as wicked as I thought it be, high intense, heart beating, breath taking… life on the EDGE!!. It was by far the most fun our entire group had while in Cape Town. we started off with a steep drive up to the top of Signal Hill. The view was remarkable!! We were able to get some great pics while waiting on our reservation. There were various vendors,(beverages, sandwiches, ice cream, etc.) while waiting. My tandem went over everything and suited me up. We began running together down the hill and before I knew it we took flight!!! The flight down lasted for about 4 minutes and we flew completely over the city, landing on the beach (for a min it seemed like we’d land in the water but I’m guessing this was just part of the thrill)!! My tandem told me only 2 cities, Cape Town & Rio (I believe) legally allow paragliding over a city landscape. I chose the video/camera option so I was able to capture the whole thing on video and in pictures. The price was just right, and service was awesome. The tandems are experienced and know exactly what they’re doing. I definitely recommend doing this if ever in the area.
