One of the largest and ancient Banyan trees of Asia

About 250-300 years ago, this banyan tree was created in a wall of a local potter’s well in a village called ‘Bethuli’ of Kaliganj sub-district of Jashore, Bangladesh. The main tree had died, but the remaining parts consisted of 45 different trees to use a land area of approximately 2.08 acre. 345 aerial roots of the tree entered into the ground and 38 roots still exists as hanging. Social Forestry Department of Jashore has been managing this Banyan tree since 2009.
