🌍 Not Just a Bench: Discovering Sustainability Around Us ♻️

Namaste Local Guides :folded_hands:

While exploring around recently, I came across some really interesting and practical eco-friendly alternatives that we often overlook in our daily lives.

:chair: From Waste to Worth

At Amul Cafe in Science City, Ahmedabad and at a Temple in Kalupur, Ahmedabad, I noticed a public bench that looked quite ordinary at first. But on a closer look, I realised it was made entirely from recycled plastic waste and tetra packs. It’s amazing to see how everyday waste can be transformed into something so durable and useful. A simple plastic bottle, if recycled properly, can literally become a place for someone to sit and relax!

:shopping_cart: Eco-friendly Finds in a Mr.DIY Store

I also noticed a dedicated section in a Mr.DIY Store at Gandhinagar promoting sustainable products. My reivew of the store is below:

Here are a few highlights:

:seedling: Bamboo Facial Tissues

A great alternative to regular tissues, these are made from natural bamboo fibre - a renewable resource that grows much faster than trees. One can check more about Bamboo Tissues in my dedicated post: 🌿 “No Trees Were Cut” - A Small Office Detail That Made Me Smile .

:bento_box: Multi-purpose Eco Containers

Food containers made from a mix of bamboo fibre, rice husk, and wheat straw - lightweight, sturdy, and designed to reduce carbon footprint (some even claim up to 40% reduction!). Plus, they’re microwave and dishwasher safe.

:bowl_with_spoon: Biodegradable Bowls

Stylish yet sustainable bowls that are food-grade and recyclable - proving that eco-friendly can also be aesthetic.

:light_bulb: What I loved the most
These products aren’t futuristic concepts - they are already available around us. It just takes a little awareness and willingness to choose better.

:globe_showing_europe_africa: Small choices → Big impact
Whether it’s picking bamboo tissues, switching to reusable containers, or simply appreciating recycled infrastructure, every step counts.

Have you spotted similar sustainable products in your city?

Let’s share and inspire each other! :green_heart:

This post is such a beautiful reminder that sometimes sustainability is quietly sitting there as a bench, waiting for a curious eye to notice! :chair::recycling_symbol:

The fact that something as everyday as a bench can be reimagined from recycled plastic and tetra packs is both humbling and hopeful.

Posts like yours make me look at familiar surroundings with fresh eyes; you never know what story they’re quietly telling! :seedling:
