Earning income in exchange for reviewing on Google is prohibited according to Google policies.
Google has gifts for local guides such as socks and t-shirts. Local guides gather in a country at a certain time. Every month, until a certain date, your account is loaded with money in your country’s currency through the Play Store.

That’s wrong information !!! There isn’t such a thing as loading up your account with money from Google. There isn’t any monthly gathering of local guides in a region either.
Local guides like yourself organise Meet-ups among themselves. There are also possibilities of a formal gathering of local guides by Google maybe once or twice a year which is strictly based on merits and quality contributions.

The local guides program is a voluntary program. Please don’t expect any earnings whatsoever as a result of being a local guide.
There are little rewards items like you’ve been told. Items like a pair of socks,pin badge etc. That isn’t certain either. My candid advise please consider contributing voluntary without expecting anything in return. Otherwise you’ll be disappointed.

Local Guide enables the feature that provides appreciation to real Local Guides by offering gift vouchers through Reputation Policy. In the last photo I added, the last sentence says Promotion Organiser: “Google Commerce Ltd, 70 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2 Ireland”.
Who else can add this money to my Play Store account other than Google? I never used this money as I did not do any local guide work for money.
People who add money to my account via the Play Store are the Google office in Ireland. I am adding the link to the Google office in Ireland.
I recommend that you get to know the place you are moderating better.

Participation is entirely voluntary, with the main goal being to assist others and improve the map experience for everyone.

To reiterate what @KashifMisidia and @SholaIB already replied in this thread, participating in the Local Guides program is entirely voluntary and is not linked to any reward program via the Google Play store.
Please be advised that benefits are not specified for every level. The points that you earn lead to higher levels of the program, as well as to benefits like early access to Google features and invites to special events.
