How to Use the New ‘Add Footnote’ Feature on Connect
Yesterday, while I was writing a post on Local Guides Connect, I noticed a new feature in the writing panel called “Add footnote.” I used it in my latest post: Meet Isha: A True Champion of Women’s Empowerment.
It reminded me of my college days when I used footnotes for academic writing. These days, I mostly use references while writing papers, but footnotes still have their own importance[1].
Footnotes are great if you want to give credit, mention a source, or add extra information without interrupting the flow of your content.
Whatever you will write deleting Footnote word, that will appear in the bottom of preview section.
The first time you use it, you’ll see a small number 1 in the preview. The next time, it will be 2, and so on.
In the final post, instead of a number, you’ll see three dots (…) after the word or phrase. When someone clicks on those dots, the footnote will appear[2].
It’s a handy feature to make your posts more informative and organized!
You guys, @Kumaarsantosh and you, @K.K.Sharma ji, both of you are going deep into the connect portal. No wonder if they call for beta testing of the next update.
What a discovery @K.K.Sharma and more importantly your passion to write a post on the topic and share with the community.
This is a wonderful feature for any kind of write-ups whether manual or electronic. I am pleased to read the details you have shared here not only about How-tos in Connect but also the importance and background of footnotes. This is a great learning for many. I am highly impressed!
Just observant while using the different features of Connect. I keep on recording (not the video recording) any new development I come across in the process and share it back with the community.
Thank you for your compliments dear friend @AjitThite.
Thank you for the appreciation, @AjitThite ji. On Connect, @Kumaarsantosh is one of my mentors. Apart from his insightful posts, he has personally guided me—for instance, on how to add badges to the signature. I still remember the day he, without me even asking, explained how to change the size of the badge in the signature. That tip was incredibly useful, and I implemented it immediately. He is a prolific writer, thoughtful contributor, and an excellent meet-up moderator.
