My Uploaded Google Maps Video Has No Audio – Need Help

Hi Connect Team,

I recently uploaded a short video (under 30 seconds) taken at Batasia Loop, Darjeeling, to Google Maps. While the video shows up clearly with correct visuals and a location tag, it has no audio when played on mobile or desktop.

I’ve noticed another video from the same location and time (uploaded May 2025) that does have audio. It’s not a 360° video — it’s a regular handheld footage, just like mine.

Could someone from the team or a moderator help clarify:

  1. Why was my audio removed or not retained?
  2. Are there settings or requirements I may have missed?
  3. Can I re-upload in a way that preserves audio?
  4. Is an exception possible, since other similar videos clearly retain sound?

Would appreciate a resolution or guidance on how to ensure future uploads retain ambient sound.

I tried to listen to one of those videos you shared and I was able to get the audio of the train !!!

Really the audio gets muted on Google maps in general. It used to be that you can un-mute it and listen but it seems that’s also gone of recent.

Nevertheless all you need is the visual video not audio.

The maximum length of video is 30 seconds. For the length of the video I think 12-15 seconds is better. No one likes a long boring video.

Add to Mr @SholaIB 's explanations..I think it could be due to the network fluidity sometimes..( I mean with an unreasonable network it misread..) and aside maybe mute and unmute indicator under ( generally) as mentioned could help

We’d like to know if you tried the mute/ unmute indicator already..

Videos can get muted if Google suspect there is copyright protected music.
