Hi everyone! Welcome to Local Guides Connect. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our community.
As “Introduce Yourself” threads can be lengthy, we start a new one each month and lock past threads. You can check previous threads, like May’s, to see who recently joined and where they’re from. We’ll merge any “I’m new” and “Hello world” posts we find elsewhere with this thread to keep things organized.
Do you want to be featured in our monthly Introduce Yourself posts? Share your introduction in the comments, following the five prompts below, and a horizontal photo of yourself (in landscape mode). The best introductions will be considered for future Introduce Yourself posts. Please note: Your response may be edited for clarity. By taking part in this challenge, you agree to allow us to share your answers and photo(s) publicly here on Connect.
This month, meet @Nurul_Hasnat! Nurul is a Local Guide Level 8, and here’s what he shared.
1. Name: Nurul Hasnat Arafat
2. Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
3. What I love about being a Local Guide: As a Local Guide, I help the local people. In the past few years, the number of restaurants in our country has increased a lot. There are places where very good food is available, places that look nice but the food is not good, and also places where the food, the place, and the service are not good. I try to go to those new restaurants and give them a review on Google Maps, evaluating the quality of the food, the type of place, and the service. That way, other people can decide which restaurants to go to and which ones to avoid. And when people show appreciation for my reviews, that is my achievement.
4. My favorite thing to explore: Since last year, I have been trying to find new food courts in my area. Many people are starting food courts with little capital. Sometimes I am very surprised when I try their food because such delicious food is not available even in many big restaurants. As they are a small business, it is very important to support them. When I add a food court on the map, the owners are very happy. And that brings me joy.
5. Fun fact about me: Whenever I go to a restaurant, I try to order their most special dish, because I think it will be the most delicious. But my guess doesn’t always come true. Sometimes, the most special dishes are the worst on the menu.
Nice to meet you, Nurul! Local Guides, don’t miss the chance to say hi to Nurul in the comments below and share your introduction, too.
