Eastern Europe is mysterious and mystical. I love to travel around it and I have my own rating of the favorite cities of Eastern Europe. So let’s get started!!!
The top five of my favorite cities in Eastern Europe include Romanian Bucharest. Like all of Romania, I associate Bucharest with the mysterious Count Dracula and his cryptic castle. I really like the distinctive Romanian style of architecture called Brâncoveanu. Its characteristic features are the presence of rich carvings and decorative paintings, oriental arches with low columns, eaves of the roof, placed at a considerable distance. In this style built Mănăstirea Antim, Biserica Stavropoleos, Banca Națională a României. Bucharest is a city worth visiting.
A city that must be on the list of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe is, of course, Prague. The city, which is also called, Golden Prague, is truly beautiful. Prague ranks high on the list of the most popular tourist cities in the world. I am particularly inspired by the wide, deep river Vltava, surrounded by picturesque hills. In Prague, there are many attractions. These are Pražský hrad, Karlův most, Staroměstské náměstí, Pražský orloj. Who has not seen Prague, he has not seen anything.
The third place on my list is the magnificentKrakow. Krakow was the official capital of Poland until 1596. The spirit of the capital is inherent in this city to this day. Including thanks to Wawel Royal Castle located on the banks of the Vistula. The sights of Krakow also include Bazylika Mariacka, Rynek Główny, Kazimierz. Krakow is a fabulous and cozy city!!!
Now let’s move to the second place on my list. And this place belongs to the magnificent Budapest!!! It is also called the Paris of Eastern Europe. My favorite sights are Országház, Halászbástya, Szent István Bazilika. And, of course, the beautiful Danube separating the city from Buda and Pest!!!
Well, finally my winner!!! Some people may find my choice strange, but I give the first place to Wroclaw. This is a city of islands, bridges and dates. Like all of the above cities, Wroclaw is rich in sights. There are Archikatedra św. Jana Chrzciciela we Wrocławiu, Rynek we Wrocławiu, Muzeum Sztuki Mieszczańskiej. But I especially love this city thanks to the dwarves hiding everywhere (sculptures, symbols of the city). And there are already about 300!!!
I like your selection as it is not typically and I have different once, but totally understand why you selected this once.
What is as well interesting, but no reason for any kind of dispute is, what countries do you count to Eastern Europe. At least some I would count to Central Europe. I have had a discussion with a friend from the US, what is the ORIENT, as we met someone who told us something different. Means we sometimes talk about the same, but the meaning for the term is different.
Dear @TorM ,
I am surprised that my post impressed you!!! There are different criteria for the division of Europe. I used the criterion to divide Europe into Eastern and Western, which is used by the UN Statistics Division. As for my first place, Wroclaw, it seems to me that Poland from all these four countries is the most well-groomed and developed, and in this sense Prague is inferior to any of the two Polish cities that I described. Well, Wroclaw won my rating thanks to the dwarves.
As I can see, you travel a lot, which is just great! From these cities that you mentioned, I was only in Prague and I was impressed by the city and the its culture. I am curious in which country do you live? Which other countries did you visit? Which country until now did you impress the most?
I can say from my last trips I liked the most Turkey because of the interesting culture and the nice Istanbul. I attended also their traditional folklore dances and it was just amazing. My next trip will be soon in Spain, Madrid so I can’t wait to see another different part of the world.

Hello @PoliMC ,
Thanks so much for appreciating my review.
I am very glad that you liked Prague, and the other cities deserve to see them!!! Now I live in Berlin, Germany, but I was born Belarus. Really I travel a lot. I have visited almost all European countries, with the exception of South Slavic countries, such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and so on, Great Britain, and such small countries as Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Holland is still the country that impressed me most. I love Amsterdam and the whole of Holland thanks to the fabulous atmosphere and diminutiveness in the planning of the city, proximity to the Atlantic, a large number of birds, a large number of art museums.
I was also once in Turkey and was impressed by her beauty. I hope your trip to Spain will be wonderful!!!
Thanks for the technical hint for writing a comment. And thanks again for the appreciation of my work.
Aww it’s great that you live in Germany! And I think you would be also impressed with the Slavic countries because we have very beautiful nature and very rich history.
I totally agree with you about Amsterdam and in general about the Netherlands. Thanks a lot for the wishes about my trip! I hope the weather will be great!
You are welcome and I will look forward for your next great posts!
Dear @PoliMC ,
Thank you also for your kind words and heartfelt wishes!!!
I love the Slavic countries very much, because the Slav woman herself. I am particularly interested in the history of such countries as the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Hungary (the last 2 I do not consider Slavic). In these countries, I feel at home.
I am going to write my next post about Prague, because 2 days ago I returned from there.
Hello @TorM ,
honestly, I wrote my answer a few days ago, as soon as I read your message, but forgot to mention you (today it fixed). I am sure that Bosnia and Herzigovina is a beautiful country worth visiting. It is believed that Albania is one of the most beautiful Balkan countries. Unfortunately, I do not have my own opinion on this. But that Montenegro is insanely beautiful, I was convinced personally. And you are absolutely right that there are no railway lines in Montenegro (I had to get to a place of rest by taxi). There is the option of buses, but for the money it is almost the same, but a lot of time.
Have a great time in Montenegro and Albania!!!
Very nice City Review @katydarhel . I really like your description of great cities in eastern Europe. Makes me can not be patient to go there…great job!
Hi @tedjomurti_tedi ,
Eastern Europe (although I was told that this is Сentral Europe) is very mystical and magical. It is worth seeing. Thanks for the kind words !!!
Hi @KingKev ,
thank you for your valuable feedback. In defense of Bucharest, I can say one thing. The country ranked last in my ranking becomes the cover. This is not so bad.
