My 5 Year Journey on Connect

It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since I embarked on this incredible journey of learning, sharing thoughts, exchanging ideas, and connecting with amazing individuals here on Connect.

I still recall receiving that initial email invitation to join Connect, and it’s been a ride ever since. Allow me to take you through some memorable moments of my journey:

My first post on Connect was here in April 2019 and although I did not get the warmest reception from @ErmesT , it did teach me some humility. No matter how well you think you do on numbers and points, there is always someone who has done more. Over the years ErmesT has been so helpful to me.

One of the standout posts for me was penned by @MortenCopenhagen in May 2020. His post on “How good of a Local Guide are you?” sparked engaging discussions and ignited my passion for the numbers game in this journey. Thank you, Morten.

@AdamGT leaderboards started back in July of 2020 and became the preclude of his advanced and numerous leaderboards which so many of us guides look forward to every month. The first leaderboards created discussion, they spawned new ideas and motivated so many of us. They still do. Thanks to my friends who were involved with these discussions.

I joined the fun and addictive state/world challenges hosted by @Denise_Barlock @jayasimha78 and Kwiksatik sometime in 2021 and have had the pleasure of co-hosting a few events, here is one of the links here. You can all join in and play the first Saturday of every month. I have had so much fun playing with Local guides from around the world. SilvyC , RosyKohli to name a few.

A true highlight of my journey came in November 2022 when I was invited to participate in one of @JanVanHaver 's renowned podcasts see link here. Along with Adam and MortenC, It was an honor and a personal milestone for me in 2022. Thanks Jan.

The “Race to a Billion Photo Views” post in May 2023 stands out as one of my personal favorites, filled with fun and camaraderie shared with MortenC and @DshottDennis .

This year, being featured in “Celebrating our community’s proudest moments” was a humbling experience. Thank you Connect.

This year my very good and close friend @JustJake encouraged me to add Roads, Now I am hooked, Thanks to Ermest ,MarcoDavoli and SholalB for their help.

I probably have missed some people, please forgive me, Don’t forget TravellerG , PrasadVR and KattyGeltmeyer and Lightrich

Overall, I’m immensely proud of my accomplishments on Connect and Local Guides, but above all, I’m grateful for the lifelong friendships forged with incredible individuals. To all of you, Thank you for being part of this journey.

I’m sorry for not realising it was your first post. It was so well written and clearly explained that I thought you had already a lot of experience about the community.

But I want to welcome you now. Many come in Connect and disappear quickly like a meteor, others fall in love with the Community and become helpful, ready to support others with their issues.
