Hello @OliverKIWI ,

Thank you for sharing these incredible photos with us. What camera did you use?

If I’m not mistaken mehndi mean henna, am I right? What is this celebration and ceremony about?

You can always have a look at Please Read: Posting on “Photography” Board article, it might be helpful for your next post.

Dear fellow LGs,

@BorrisS @KARAKKAM @mockata2 Thank you for your replies!

This is an Indian Wedding I attended two years ago.

Lots of singing and dancing and Henna for the new couple during the night.

Mehndi and Sangeet are two separate ceremonies.

Sangeet is music night and Mehndi is Henna - nowadays people combine the two in one night.

What makes this wedding unique is they hire a Polynesian dance troupe to celebrate. The two cultures are common here in New Zealand. And the result is just stunning as you can see the photos.

@Ruxellan thank you:)

@mockata2 Yes, I had the honour to shoot those photos and it was a great night full of happiness, fun, music, dance and good food. Now this is impossible. The government has banned any indoor gathering more than 100 people due to the Corona Virus:(

Hi everyone @OliverKIWI @mockata2 @Ruxellan @KARAKKAM @BorrisS

I’m from India and it feels nice to see that you find our Indian rituals interesting.

@OliverKIWI I wanna add something to your replies, these rituals are not only for show off, but, these have a scientific backend. The Henna which we call Mehndi, is used to make beautiful designs on the hands of the couple.

Another interesting thing about this ritual that the groom’s name is written on the hands of the bride with this Henna !!

Now, Haldi i.e. turmeric has a great healing power and great anti bacterial properties. The Haldi/turmeric kila all the bacteria and enhances the skin.

Thank you for this @ProKashyap Good to know some fun facts!

Yes, turmeric has some great health benefits - I’ve seen a few food and drinks have turmeric as one of the key ingredients!

@ProKashyap Although the wedding was two years ago, the memories are still very vivid. It was a friend’s friend’s wedding at a private location. They know me like to take photos, so they asked me to photograph the ceremony. It’s the most amazing Indian wedding I’ve ever done.
