Hello @Subeffect , I had experienced it before since Google Maps realized that I have a direction before. Even I was not being there. Because sometimes Google records history where you already get direction there. If you were not being there, instead of dismissing it, try the last another choice: I haven’t been there. Hope it will help
I might be in a parking lot that includes several stores and am asked to review one that I haven’t enetered OR wait at a street light near a church, restaurant, whatever, and been asked to review it… seems impossible to dismiss or have to repeatedly reply that I haven’t been there!
Hi,
I have been having the same problem - I keep getting asked to review places I’ve not been, and I keep clicking “I’ve not been” or “dismiss” but they come back. I’m attaching a screenshot taken today. These are just 3 places I’ve not been to!
I am experiencing the same, since months. As I am traveling for business quite a bit, it looks really messy within the app. Neither dismiss nor “havent been there” helps, it’s just temporary. As of now, I just rate these with 3 stars and a comment like “bug”, for my own information. It’s bad, I know.
How about you fix the problem instead of throwing it back on reviewers???
Hi KatyaL,
Most of these places aren’t even in my timeline. Sometimes they may have been originally but I’ve went in and manually updated it because I may have been in a building next door, but that’s pretty rare. For the most part the location history is accurate. The issue is that when I mark them as “I haven’t been here” or “Dismiss,” they should just disappear and I shouldn’t be prompted to review them again.
Today, the only place I’m seeing to submit a review for is a Greyhound station. The closest place I’ve been to it anytime recently (and highly recommended for good tacos!) is Condado Tacos. When I mark it as ‘I haven’t been here’ it disappears but when I go back to this page later, it asks me to review it again. Dismissing it works but not always.
When I am walking, and I am near a place or commerce, It marks it as I have been there, and obligues me to answer about the commerce and I cant mark it that I have not been there, and my response is that “I dont know the place”
I’m surprised you need screenshots etc. Lots of people have this issue, asking for proof sounds like you think they are making it up. It’s a problem for me too. An annoying waste of time. I have been repeatedly clicking ‘haven’t been’ on the same locations for months. The list is usually so long I run out of time to waste on it. Try it yourself the see if it can be fixed.
Hi @Chalky9 , @P0ffee , @JonYoung ,
Thanks for sending over the details and for describing your issue. We will have a look at this problem. I appreciate your patience.
P.S. If you want to directly discuss something with a community member, please make sure you add @ before their username, so that they can receive a notification from you.
I have this issue as well. It is becoming increasingly annoying. With my latest round of answering “I have not been here” or “Dismiss” they are showing in my Places to review but when I try to get rid of them it produces an error. There are a large number of places I either drive by or live or work by that I have never been to and am constantly asked about them. What is more annoying is that I am not asked about many places i have actually been to. I am on a Google Pixel with the latest Maps update.
@berndkorz I gave up trying to remove them. So, no, it’s not just you

Hi,
I am using Google Maps version 10.15.1 on my phone, tablet and Chromebook, and have encountered the same issue on all three. I use Google Chrome as the browser on all my devices. I do not own a PC.

Hey @Joseph888 ,
Thanks for reaching out.
You can manage your app settings to not receive notifications for reviewing places.
Please note that I am going to merge your post to the Maybe a BUG? Cannot remove a place I never visited, since they represent same topic. There you may find detailed instructions about how to set the notifications.
I’ve been having the same problem for months if not for years. It happens to me in any (Chrome or Firefox) browser when using my PC as well as when using Google Maps app in my phone.
I remember it happened to me when I was using my old Nexus 5 like 2 years ago, but at some point it stopped (or I just stopped noticing). The last 5 to 6 months using an S7 have been horrible; from constant reminders to review places that I dismiss or mark as not having been there on a daily basis, to having to review the same place 2 or even 3 times because for some reason my reviews just disappear.
I have no clue about what’s happening.
You can manage your Google Maps app settings to switch off the notifications for reviewing places (Rate & Review places). We had similar case in this topic Maybe a BUG? Cannot remove a place I never visited.
Please change the notifications and if you can still see suggestions to review places that you haven’t been or can’t dismiss, please let us know.
Hello @KatyaL ,
thx for your suggestion but this does not solve my issue in the suggestions in maps:
See “Laagsbach”.
1 I was never there
-
I deleted that place now about 50 or more times and
-
It is back after about 10 min
Ghost places like this I have about 50 times or more in my timeline.
Hey @berndkorz ,
Can you please specify what is the device you are using? What model, OS version and Google Maps version will be helpful.
Thanks!
