Hello Local Guides,
Today my connect post on upcoming Global Accessibility Awareness Day (#GAAD) 2026, I wanted to take a moment to focus on something that can truly make a real-world difference through Google Maps — accessibility information.
For many of us, visiting a café, park, shopping area, or public place is simple. But for people with physical disabilities or mobility challenges, accessibility can completely shape their experience. A wheelchair-friendly entrance, ramps, elevators, accessible pathways, or supportive staff can turn an ordinary visit into a comfortable and welcoming one.
As Local Guides, we have the opportunity to help millions of people by sharing these important details in our reviews and photos.
Recently, I explored and reviewed several places that provide accessibility-friendly features. In my Google Maps reviews, I tried to mention helpful information such as:
Wheelchair-accessible entrances
Step-free movement
Comfortable and spacious interiors
Accessibility-friendly infrastructure
Ease of navigation for visitors with mobility needs
I believe accessibility information is just as important as ratings, food, atmosphere, or service because inclusive spaces deserve to be discovered and appreciated.
Here are the Google Maps review links to the places I reviewed:
1) Check out this review of Vivanta Kolkata EM Bypass on Google Maps
2) Check out this review of Kava restaurant on Google Maps
3) Check out this review of Guptipara Rath on Google Maps
4) Check out this review of Gandhi Smriti on Google Maps

6) Check out this review of India Gate on Google Maps
7) Check out this review of Amar Jawan Jyoti on Google Maps
8) Check out this review of Victoria Memorial Eastern Garden on Google Maps
…and many more. Every accessibility-focused contribution on Google Maps can help someone travel with more confidence and independence. Even a small review may become a big help for another person someday.
I would like to thank some local guides like @Anil6969 , @GaziSalauddinbd , @MohammadPalash , and @Yeruvanaresh for creating meetup on this topic on 21st May 2026 and and I wish them for their successful meetup.
Let’s continue making Google Maps more inclusive, informative, and accessible for everyone.
Happy #GAAD 2026 to all fellow Local Guides! accessibility lets-celebrate Meet-ups Connections & celebrations
